How often does your 7 year old shower/bathe?

Anonymous
Everyday in summer and/or if sweaty playing outside in the dirt/ bushes covered in sunscreen. If he didn't have lots of physical activity like in the winter every other day

Twice a week whether needed or not.

Some of you are running up the water bill for no reason.

We take this approach as well. I think it makes sense. Sometimes you have to bathe daily (especially if wearing sunscreen, going in a pool, playing outside, etc.). But in December or January when they are indoors most of the time and not sweating much? My preference would be every other day but sometimes I let it go longer.

The one caveat here is that it depends on how good the kid is at wiping. There have been plenty of times when I've ordered a bath or shower based entirely on my knowledge of a child's dilettante bathroom habits. But this also serves as motivation to do better in that respect.

If the kid isn't wiping, especially if it's because they don't like the touch, it seems like they won't wash in their backside in shower either.

But if they are super sloppy wipers, the shower helps.
