I'm tired of "statement armpits"

Amazon is trying to make female statement mustaches a cool thing too. There’s an ad where a girl doesn’t want to wax her mustache so instead dresses, like Freddie Mercury.

I hate it.

If it weren't a statement, the press would cover it. For example, Rachel McAdams has disappeared from the limelight. So in order to reappear in a way that got attention, she added... armpit hair.

Here is Vanity Fair, totally not noticing the armpit hair: https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2023/04/rachel-mcadams-armpit-hair-photos

Here is E!, quoting McAdams explaining the statement behind her armpit hair: https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/why-rachel-mcadams-wanted-to-show-her-armpit-hair-and-body-in-all-its-glory/ar-AA1a4B1u

Here is Vogue, explaining the armpit hair trend and the statement of confidence it makes: https://www.vogue.com/article/celebrities-who-dont-shave-underarm-hair-julia-roberts-madonna-sophia-loren-lola-kirke

So yeah, it's totally just me. Armpit hair in glamorous places is just soooo common, I'm a weirdo for noticing it. Right.

I know zip about Rachael McAdams because I don't look at glossy magazines, gossip news sites, or celebrity news in any format. Have you tried reading real newspapers, books, or nonfiction works? Spend more time reading the New York Times and you may be able to do the crossword in that publication instead of the one in Us Weekly. Challenge yourself!

May I one day be as cultured as you, to spend my time on a fashion forum explaining how strenuously I ignore pop culture.

Talking about armpit hair isn't "fashion." I'd be happy to talk with you about my favorite designers and the best fashion shows I've been to. Photographers, makeup artists, products, jewelry, let's go. Armpit hair most directly relates to *hygiene,* not *fashion,* so perhaps the Health Forum is where you should be engaging in this elevated discourse.

OP here. You're wrong. People discuss hair-- on their head and brows-- here and not in health.

And at the point that we are over a decade past the moment when the armpit trend reached its crescendo-- I refer to Lady Gaga's blue armpit hair (linked below)-- it is a played out trend. It used to be subversive and now its boring. So I'm tired of people pulling this stupid, ugly trend in order to show how edgy and self-accepting they are. Find a new statement, fashion people.

If you don’t want to look at Lady Gaga’s armpits, don’t. It’s that simple. Look, I’m not looking at Lady Gaga’s armpits right now! You can, too.

Can you also not look at this thread, then?

I have noticed that Amazon has changed that ad so that it no longer features facial hair, just the cool Queen clothes, they must have gotten some feedback and took a hint from Bud Light before they started to lose billions.

I was at the beach during spring break and the young woman seated in front of me had hairy legs and pits but a smooth bikini area. Her body her choice, etc. but I thought that was pretty strange.

I have hairy legs and pits but a smooth bikini area, because my pubes (which are luxurious!) don't protrude outside my bikini. Not all of us have hair down to their knees.

God forbid she just accepts who she is, right? You’re the ridiculous one.

Well what do you think?

Yes. These girls stink.

Also, au naturales: if you don’t practice basic Western hygiene, your armpits aren’t the only noticeable odor by the end of the day. All those Tom’s products combined with “let it flow” mentality leads to ripeness by evening come summer time.

So...men don't stink? Why is men's armpit hair not stinky? What is it about women's armpit hair that makes it stink whereas men's armpit hair apparently does not? Would love to hear all about it!

Did you stare at and question your uncles' pits too?

Let's hope her uncles have better sense than her aunt.

Do your husband/father/brother/son shave their pits?

What are you smoking?

They don't wear tank tops. They have dignity.

They have two versions. I've seen both within the last day.
