I'm tired of "statement armpits"

I rarely notice armpits but I think hairy legs on a woman is way more gross. If the hair is light/sparse that’s one thing, I’m talking about the ones with the lumberjack look

Most women don't have "statement" body hair, we just don't care anymore.

Was surprised to see so many HS girls out and about with unshaven legs and then thought about how things have shifted now and thought good for them!

That's disgusting. I'm sure several cats are in their future.

This forum is usually so adamant that you don't judge women based on appearance -- google any thread that involves teen girls wearing very short shorts -- but suddenly you've all turned into my Great Aunt Margaret about body hair.

If I said your DD's visible bra straps were "revolting," I would get crucified on this board. But that doesn't apply when we're talking about her unshaven armpits?

Enlighten me: What aspects of a girl or woman's appearance are we allowed to judge? Where is the "her body her choice" line drawn this week?

I think this is an excellent development. We spend way too long getting rid of bady hair and I've been hoping natural body hair for both men and women comes back. Hope this is one good thing that comes out of the pandemic.

Easy! Knees: judge away! Fat: hands off!

This board is filled with a bunch of woman with no sense of personal style and no self confidence.

Too much eyeliner, Capri pants, perfume use.

Armpits are gross and people don't want to see them. They also don't want to see the bottoms of your feet or the insides of your teeth. This isn't revelatory. And having hairy armpits isn't feminist or something. It takes no effort to grow armpit hair. It's not even like, styled.

Obviously, you care.

Is someone forcing you to look at these photos of celebrities? Do people approach you on the street to show you their feet and teeth?

I don't care about the grooming habits of people on the street. I want to be able to read celebrity crap without seeing their armpit hair.

But you're right l, I shouldn't. I should tune out and hasten the death of movie stardom. They are on their last, hairy leg anyway while internet influencers take over.

I occasionally see women who don’t shave their armpits, but I have never once thought it was a “statement.” Not everything is a message to you personally, OP! My goodness, what a way to view how other people choose to…be.

LOL, since when is a celebrity photo shoot something you have to look at? Look at something else. Get off the internet or close the fashion magazine and read a book, you sound like that would do you some good.

I agree.

If it weren't a statement, the press would cover it. For example, Rachel McAdams has disappeared from the limelight. So in order to reappear in a way that got attention, she added... armpit hair.

Here is Vanity Fair, totally not noticing the armpit hair: https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2023/04/rachel-mcadams-armpit-hair-photos

Here is E!, quoting McAdams explaining the statement behind her armpit hair: https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/why-rachel-mcadams-wanted-to-show-her-armpit-hair-and-body-in-all-its-glory/ar-AA1a4B1u

Here is Vogue, explaining the armpit hair trend and the statement of confidence it makes: https://www.vogue.com/article/celebrities-who-dont-shave-underarm-hair-julia-roberts-madonna-sophia-loren-lola-kirke

So yeah, it's totally just me. Armpit hair in glamorous places is just soooo common, I'm a weirdo for noticing it. Right.
