Late 30s to early 40s. The music alone gives it away. The younger brother is a lot younger. He is supposed to be in his mid 20s.

Um no. The two brothers were shown as little kids, maybe a 5 year age difference.

Maybe even just 3 years apart. Little Danny said to little Paul something like, "you have to get really smart and skip 3 grades so we can be in the same grade. That's a good plan."

That broke my heart

Yes, poor Paul.
.

I meant Danny (but also Paul in the end).

Same here. Thought it was dreadful and boring and I didn't care about any of the characters.

I honestly don’t understand how folks find this series boring. I have been riveted by this - the characters, the plots and sub plots, the chaotic frenetic mess that every episode is, the acting, the look into the LA subcultures, the dark humor. It’s been so entertaining all along

This. I have been a ball of anxiety and stress lately due to work, kids, etc. I have read nothing but positive reviews and wanted to watch it, but I need something light and funny right now.
Definitely keeping on the watch list, though

Best show I've seen in a while.

Paul was applying to colleges in 2008, so he is likely 15+18 = 33.
Asian men look the same from 25-45 🤷‍♀️

I thought the ending was sad.

I'm conflicted about the ending.

Paul seemed much younger than Danny or Amy, but the flashback scenes imply that he was only a few years younger than Danny.

There was a sweetness to it, two miserable broken people truly connecting with each other under really bizarre circumstances.
