Schools like Banneker have essays and recommendations. At least add essays.

Although your student met the minimum GPA requirement of a 3.0 at the end of the last school year to be considered for admissions to SWW, as we advanced through the interview process his/her GPA scored below our 2023 bar for an interview, largely due to an exceptionally large applicant pool. As your child will not be continuing with our process, we wanted you to have this information as early as possible so you may consider some of the other great high school opportunities in DCPS.
Students did a fantastic job last school year and should be praised for their hard work.
We appreciate your consideration in School Without Walls and wish you the best during this admission season.
Thank you,
School Without Walls Administration

Warmly,
N. Hardge

Well we didnt get that. We got the initial email, but no appointment email today

If this is at all fair they need to interview all 4.0 kids.

Also- for this group of kids, 7th grade was their return from virtual learning. Some kids might have struggled to get back into the swing of school/ COVID impact. A 3.5 student last year might have been a 4.0 student in another situation. They had no chance of making the Wall’s cut this year.

Too bad so sad! Other students managed to pull it together and get 4.0 GPAs. Jackson Reed is for the former.

It’s clear that the DCPS chancellor will need to be contacted regarding farce of a school

Wow, aren’t you lovely. Not everyone has access to Jackson Reed/ the ability to move to the burbs.

My word. You must mean business. I bet he takes a day off to avoid you.

It is that kind of attitude why nothing ever changes in DC and the public school system is so poorly regarded. Fairfax parents didn’t like the new admissions policy at Thomas Jefferson and filed lawsuits immediately.

Then YOU should file a lawsuit! Stop whining and do something.

In a few years time, I think MacArthur high school will likely out rank SWW in terms of quality and desireability

True.

How would they differentiate by school? I might argue it’s not fair to claim a 3.7 at Basis is a stronger student than a 3.7 at a DCPS middle school. Who’s to say the kid at the DCPS wouldn’t get a 3.7 at Basis? There is no way to do this in a fair way.

Are you joking? A 3.7 at Basis is easily a 4.0 at any other public school on DC. They don’t have the same grade inflation and social promotion.

Anyone below a 4.0 get an interview?

Just wondering what the GPA cut-off is this year.
