In western countries and in China, the total fertility rate ( "TFR" ) is far below the "replacement rate" of 2.1 children per female.

Sub Saharan Africa and certain middle eastern countries are driving population growth.

They typically still have TFR as high as 6 or 7 children per female in some cases.
