I don't think the person that gets the most votes wins. It's whoever has the majority of the votes. So even if he gets the most votes he won't be the speaker until/unless some Rs vote for him. He'll get 212 but the winner needs 216. |
Whee! |
He's burnt toast and will not be Speaker. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! |
He voted for Jeffries in honor of the slaves who built the capitol. |
|
have republicans been voting for Jeffries?
You think Kevin has a load of 💩in his pants? |
|
Currently 212 Democrats and 222 Republicans in office.
Current count has McCarthy already losing 11 votes (7 Biggs, 4 Others). So, looks like Jeffries is going to get more votes than McCarthy is. Neither one will get enough to win the office, but it is telling that the minority leader will have more votes than the leading majority candidate. |
And Jordan voted for McCarthy. She’s so dumb. |
Yes, but Jordan voter for McCarthy. Funny. |
Only if some Republicans vote for him. He needs 50% +1 of all those voting. Generally thought the magic number is 218. Anyone voting can change their vote before the gavel. Also if someone votes "present" they aren't counted at all and it would lower the threshold number (50%+1) needed to elect a Speaker. |
He must because no one ever thought he would lose so many votes. |
he's like the kid who gets picked last at kickball. his stupid smug face on the screen. |
| Now the real fun starts. Will the moderate republicans support a candidate that the MAGAs would find acceptable? |
| Oh man I was just thinking about how I wish someone would have brought popcorn into the chambers. This is perfect! |
|
19 Republicans voted against McCarthy!
