What are your high stat kid’s safeties?

My high stat class of 2022’s safeties were UMD and Lafayette.

good to hear. Trying to convince my high stats DC who wants to major in CS that they will be fine at UMD.

DC is at a magnet: 1580 SAT, all 5s on APs except the foreign language one (bombed that one), unw GPA 4.0.

UMD is a safety to DC. I told DC UMD isn't really a safety for their stats, but that's what they think. And I think because it's a safety, and also the location is in our "backyard", DC doesn't want to go there. But I told them they'd be dumb to pass it up, especially if they get Banneker Key.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe with those stats UMD is a safety for CS? IDK.

No it isn't. It's a sign that there are now strong students at so many schools. If you let go of the ridiculous notion that your kid needs to go somewhere that was prestigious 20 years ago, your kid will find a peer group in many places, and can have a wonderful experience.

The fact that there are so many bright hard working young people in our country that colleges are filled with them, is not depressing at all.

+1

It’s not depressing and that’s an awful way of look at college.

Go ahead, my friend, and let’s see how intelligent we think your posts are.

DP - UMD is a safety for your kid no matter the major. While your kid's stats are excellent, I'm not sure about BK. All kids considered for BK have almost perfect stats. What is his wt GPA and how many APs has he taken? Our kids won BK twice - one partial, the other full. I can't tell you how nice it has been.

You need to research more - UCSF doesn't have undergrad programs

The US college and university system is a wonder of the world. Our kids are lucky to have access to so many fantastic schools.
