It’s “hoi polloi,” not “the hoi polloi.” Look it up. If you are going to try to sound smart, at least know the correct usage. |
Hmmm, isn't it interesting how Meghan "look at me" Markle brings out the hate and immaturity in so many ... Not np. |
Hate? Nobody knows either of those women, but only one of them is attractive and it's not Kate. She has not ever been beautiful to me and never will be no amount of other people proclaiming it will make it so. I don't think Meghan is beautiful either but she is more attractive than Kate, to me. But the pps who fawn over Kate and the royals on this thread all of the time are weird. As for the OP, Kate's suit is fine. She looks fine. It's a navy pants suit. |
| I like this suit but I didn't like the tartan one. |
I really don't follow the royal family at all I but know people who do and follow the news/pop culture enough where I get some exposure to what they're up to and a sense of peoples' sentiments. I literally have never seen or heard anything negative about Kate. Only compliments about how gracious and graceful blah blah blah that she is. Maybe she used to get this "hate" you speak of when she was newer to the scene but everything I read or hear about her from people is overwhelmingly positive, probably because these people don't want to like and for some reason feel more threatened by Meghan, who is a naturally more attractive woman and less of a bore. |
Stop lying. Kate had to run the gauntlet of negative press for a long time and kept a stiff upper lip the entire while. |
I acknowledged in my post that "maybe she "USED TO" get hated on since I wouldn't have known. But the person I quoted said "everyone hates her" as if it's the current situation. That's what I was responding to. And it's definitely NOT the current situation. |
| The shirt underneath is too dark - color combo looks like a bruise. |
| No. She’s too old for a ponytail. Also commentators have said she is segueing into a more mature dignified theme as tge crown becomes closer (the white evening gown last week). Queens don’t wear ponytails. |
Since when? Queen Rania certainly does. |
I can’t believe the media isn’t talking about her eating disorder. |
Common usage in English 100 percent dictates that The hoi polloi is an acceptable use in English if not actually the preferred use!! It sounds weird otherwise. If you ever actually used this phrase you would know that. Common usage is a more important indicator of standard adaptation versus literal translation. I hope you’ll spend some time reading up on this and hopefully it will dislodge the stick up your ass. Peace and blessings. |
Is this a joke? She looks fantastic. Her ponytail Looks amazing. Future queen consorts can wear anything and you have tons of modern day examples. How foolish. Your bias is showing. |
+1 I was coming on to say the same thing but saw your post first. Nice explanation! |
| She’s always very thin with shiny hair. She looks great in coats because she’s so thin and tall. I used to look but I’m bored of it now. I’ve never heard her talk. |
