With Republicans taking the house they will everything they can to add to the violent rhetoric. It is going to be ugly to say the least.

If you are a Jew in a red state start planning to move.

I am not wrong. Jew here. My family did not make it NEVER FORGET.

This alleged incident happened in one of the bluest of blue places in America.

This incident is not alleged. It happened. There are pictures.

It happened. But I would say there are decent chances it was done by someone wanting to complain about hate crimes-'raise awareness', as happens many times on college campuses where the victim ends up being the perpetrator.

Why would you think that? The odds are against you. Overwhelmingly, hate crimes are committed by actual haters. Overwhelmingly. So don't place your bets on the outlier.

While his motivation is important to this particular case, it's the big picture that really matters here: antisemitic incidents are on the rise and Jews do not feel safe in our own country. What are we (collectively, not just the Jews) doing about that?

What if the person who did this was 12 years old? Wouldn't that make people feel a lot differently about this?

If they were 12, they now can't be arrested under the new state law. That means zero diversion, zero mental health or substance misuse assessment. They just let them go.

This seems unlikely to have been done by a 12-year-old or by someone trying to make a hoax hate crime.

Because there's a rising prevalence of hate speech and hate crimes in our community. And you're not helping, with your veiled swipe at Jews as "Moco residents." We don't just want to publicize hate crimes against Jews. Hate crimes against anyone deserve attention and swift action. In this case, we do not know who the vandal is, so publishing photos and attempting to go through security footage is exactly what is needed.

This is so scary. I am reminded that ethnic groups in this country are targeted like this every day - Muslims, Black people. I hope the Jewish community can come together with our brothers and sisters also facing persecution in modern America.

Tikun Olam, repair the world is one of the major tenants of Judaism. And this is done primarily through action and not prayer. There is an incredible amount of solidarity and partnership with many marginalized people, organizations and communities. Most synagogues have active social action / outreach groups that are active in local and regional support networks.

After protesting George Floyd's death, I got more involved in racial justice issues. And I pulled back after the rampant anti-Semitic attitudes got thrown around casually. I hope more and more people realize that hate against any group is hate against all groups - and we continue to come together instead of tearing one another down.

I just looked up 1488- im 43- why in the name of HELL does a child of 14 know what that is AT ALL. this is incredibly disturbing even if it was teenager, that teen is just waiting to spray bullets at other teens. its horrific. I font understand how it being a minor makes it any less serious- like 16 year old Hiiter youths didn't terrorize and murder people.

Any updates on this? Haven't seen anything in the news.

Gross behavior. I wish blessing and light to our Jewish Brethren in this season of Hanukkah.

Luckily, American Jews have been fighting the good fight for people of all races, orientations. and backgrounds for forever. Sadly, it seems that in many cases they are being repaid for their efforts in antisemitism. I’m sad for them.
