| Why not arrest the vandal and move on? Why do Moco residents always insist on publishing every swastika drawn on a desk or moronic graffiti sprayed on a park? |

I highly recommend this book: Jews Don't Count by David Baddiel.
The title is tongue in cheek. It's about modern day antisemitism. |
I’m sorry they are being fed that message. |
I am also sorry. If these messages of Jew hatred would stop and the dismissal of Jews feeling threatened would stop, maybe they wouldn't be frightened. |
Most Jews I know, including me and my family, feel safe in this country. Do we feel less safe than we did a few years ago? Sure. But I only know of one or two people who are actively looking for anything like an escape route. I ride on the Capital Crescent Trail frequently, but I don't think whoever scrawled this garbage there wants to do anything other than feel tough and laugh in private about how scared they're making us. |
I'm Jewish and I feel safe in the DMV and NY (where I am from) -- but the rest of America? Not the PNW. Not the South. Not the Southwest. Not the rural midwest. |
There's definitely been an uptick in incidents like this vandalism and also of synagogues. What about actual assaults on people for their religion? We had the awful shooting in Pittsburgh. |
It happened. But I would say there are decent chances it was done by someone wanting to complain about hate crimes-'raise awareness', as happens many times on college campuses where the victim ends up being the perpetrator. |
Good luck with that. I read that this hakenkreuz was based on Hindu notions of white supremacy and that the swastika is based on the design of a military fort. |
Seems rather relevant if the motivation was to get people talking about the big picture. Where were you when this swastika was being painted? |
What if the person who did this was 12 years old? Wouldn't that make people feel a lot differently about this? |
Not in Georgia? Full of Jews, a lot of them students. Not in Florida? Not in South Carolina? I've been many times and have had no issues. Not in Arizona? Enough Jews in the retirement areas to fill at least two temples in my parents' retirement area alone. I have family in SD, in Albuquerque, in TN, in Louisiana, in Washington state, in Oregon. I have a large family so I'm sure I missed some. Remarkably they have had no issues either. |
| Given the timing, location and the fact they got the swastika wrong, I'm going to go with someone who got ripped off by FTX. |
What if the person was 25 years old? |
What is FTX? |
