You don't have a clue. Criminal justice has absolutely nothing to do with cyber security. It might help you get a generic security job like an area security officer or background investigator at a fed agency, but that's about it. And very few employers actually care about your gpa. A CJ degree is better than no degree, but there are better options if you are going to drop 200k. |
What about journalism? |
What about Film and Theatre? |
good luck finding a job that will pay decently. |
did you read the OP? It's on the list of most regretted majors. I almost majored in journalism and another in the "most regretted" list. I am so glad I didn't. |
I don't understand why we can't stick to our own experiences when someone asks and why people weigh in deeming certain majors are "fluff" when they clearly don't have a degree in them. |
I will never regret my journalism degree. I wanted to become a hard news journalist and that degree opened the door. Yes, I work with people who don’t have a journalism degree but they often had connections I didn’t have or graduated from Ivy League schools, which I didn’t. It’s a competitive career and success requires long hours and weekends. But if journalism is what you want to do, a degree opens that door. Fwiw, I am middle-aged and will earn about $130k this year. It may not be much by DCUM standards, but it’s decent pay for a job I love. |
how many accounting majors make it to executive levels? |
The ability to communicate effectively is powerful and very much needed in any organization. Furthermore, my communication classes was much more than speech communications. There are laws and ethics surrounding communication in every society and culture. It's clear you don't know wtf you're talking about. |
? same as comms majors? I mean.. c'mon, you don't think accountants can make it to director level? And re-read what I posted. |
most people can communicate effectively without getting a comms degree. Please. It's a joke degree. |
One of my nieces was a gender studies major. Went to med school, and is currently at Harvard. |
Yes, so she needed another degree to get a good job. I think that's the point. |
If you want to go to med school, you have to get an undergraduate degree (with few exceptions). Apparently perfectly good schools don't think her gender studies degree is one "of the worst majors out there". |
Are you educated enough? By your reasoning, every one who pursues M.S. or PhD or professional programs like Medicine, Law, or MBA does so because they couldn’t get a good job! Are you for real? |
