If you could live anywhere in the US...

This is super cruel. It’s definitely not a dump. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all. You need to go back to kindergarten.

Why are there so many Floridians and Florida simps on this board? What have we done wrong to bring on this influx?

+1 Lots of lush, tropical foliage. Pick a neighborhood in Orlando or Winter Park that's walkable to stuff to do and you can walk and hang out outdoors year-round. Downtown Orlando, Thornton Park, Delaney Park, near Park Ave in Winter Park, Winter Park Village in Winter Park, etc. OP, is there anything you want besides walkable and some greenery?

Everyone I know if FL and LA all miss actual, real trees. They don't have proper trees there - well maybe inland but who wants to live in the middle of FL?

Anonymous wrote:OP, some of the crazies here just HATE Florida because people fed up with left wing politics fled DC and other places for Florida. They're livid that people would rather live there even though DeSantis is Governor, so they come here to spread lies. Florida has lots of real greenery - not astroturf. There are areas with lots of fun stuff to do and access to cultural events. Walkable with views of lakes and greenery the whole year. You can get a really nice 1 BR apartment for $1,800 or spend even less.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

DP... I hate FL because of the swampy weather. What's the point of living in a walkable town if you don't want to walk anywhere because you will start sweating the second you step out of the house, and get bitten by a gazillion mosquitos? Sounds like hell to me.

LOL. That's why I hate New Orleans. I am okay with Florida as long as you stay right on the beach. The sea breeze is great. More than a block or two in, though? Forget about it!

I lived in S FL as a teen. Weather was fine and I never really had an issue with mosquitos. My parents owned a second property in New Orleans and it had the weirdest weather in the fall. You could be cold and sweat from the humidity at the same time ultimately making you cold and wet. Never experienced that anywhere else.

I used to live around there. It's beautiful but not walkable. Some gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean, though. I had a favorite spot up there to just sit and look out at the ocean. It's a PIA to get to the freeway though.

To each their own.

OK that's just stupid. I live a few miles from the beach and I can look out my window and see huge oak trees, pine trees, and of course many types of beautiful palm trees. They are all over the area where I live on the coast south of Tampa. One of my favorites is Banyan Trees which are just amazing.

New PP who agrees florida is crazy lush and green. When i moved here, someone pointed out to me how many shades of green there are. Sometimes when i'm sitting pool side, i look at my yard and try and register the infinite number of green shades that we have. It's very meditative. So it's funny people are arguing that florida has no "green" when, literally, spacing out on the infinity of greens is one of my happy places.

Florida simps? Ok. It's because so many former DMV residents have moved to Florida. But don't you be swayed by that, you stay right where you are!

When I lived there, I hated the lack of trees. No one asking for "greenery" means a bunch of pesticide lawns and bushes and palm trees. The only place that has any trees at all (and even those are nothing compared to the northeast, pacific northwest, or even the midwest) would be dumpy places far inland (also the only places you can get a walkable apartment for under $1800 anymore) that no one in their right mind wants to live in. Cultural wastelands made up of Wendy's and run down gas stations. No one likes Florida, sorry.

Tons of people who moved there over the past 2 years disagree with you. I can’t wait to get back.
