A-hole neighbor broke my fence and refuses to pay to fix it

She used to do all sorts of stupid things to get attention.

We have a neighbor like that too and keeps trying to take our property. One did and its so frustrating. Then they lie and tell all kinds of terrible things to other people about us who have no clue as we keep to ourselves.

Yes people do try to take your property. It’s bizarre but they do it. A visit from the police is always helpful in that case.

How do you know they do this if you keep to yourselves?

He's constantly landscaping his property. Our houses are quite close together, even though he has a lot of land. So I guess he wanted to shield his house from mine, even though there are already some trees that provide property. But I think he's just an a-hole who has a persecution complex.

I was just wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation, and how you handled it.

Excuse me -- WHO has the persecution complex here?

It's NOT her fence!

We occasionally talk to one neighbor but we don't speak at all to the other two.

Sad indictment of a neighborhood.

Some nwighborhoods have more turnover than others - for good reason!

You sound a little paranoid and pretty vague about your situation. How can someone repeatedly be trying to take your property? Do a boundary survey and get boundary markers. It's a very simple way to establish the true property line, if that's the issue.

We have a survey and they later did one. Their plants are on our property and where they want to put the fence is on ours too. Another neighbor put a fence on our property and we called permitting as they pulled a permit and agency refused to help. We know exactly where the lines are.

Is it safe to say OP won't be inviting "HFA" neighbor to her annual Christmas Cookie Swap this year?

Why did you pay to repair your neighbors fence? It it’s on his property, it’s his. What will you do when he rips it out? You sound like the watcher.

If you can’t get along with the neighbors on both sides, perhaps you should consider that you might be the problem.

OP, verify that the fence is on your property and then take him to small claims court. Likely he just said that because he doesn’t want to pay. You already had a survey done pre-fence and provided it to the installers. Verify and sue him. He is being nasty for no reason, he could have provided the landscaper info and did not. His statement regarding ownership indicates to me that he has no argument that the fence wasn’t broken by his contractors, only that he doesn’t have to fix it because they broke his fence. Verify and then settle this in court.

That’s obnoxious and he sounds like a jerk.

I would let it go though.

Have you even taken a second to read any of the posts? Did you actually read OP's original post? The fence belongs to the neighbor - OP is trespassing on HIS property!
