You don’t event understand why that is not a big deal given where UVA is. |
| Georgetown is treading water. |
This. Our DS didn't even consider it. UVA's stats from a publication that came out today: SEE WHERE UVA STACKS UP AGAINST THE COMPETITION U.S. News’ Best Colleges list debuted in 1983 and sparked an explosion of competitors. Forbes, Princeton Review, The Wall Street Journal and other organizations now churn out annual rankings based on factors ranging from staff-student ratio to graduation rate and student debt. Here’s where UVA falls on the lists published by August 2022. #1 Best Schools for Financial Aid, Princeton Review #2 Colleges in the South, Money Magazine #3 Best Public Colleges, Money Magazine Best Value Public Colleges, Princeton Review Best Value Colleges without Aid (Public), Princeton Review Best Alumni Networks (Public), Princeton Review #4 Among Public Universities, U.S. News Best Career Placement, Princeton Review #8 Best Undergraduate Business Program, U.S. News Best Law School, U.S. News #10 Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, U.S. News #13 Best Nursing School (Master’s), U.S. News #14 Best Business School, U.S. News #15 Best Nursing School (Doctor of Nursing Practice), U.S. News #17 Best Education School (Graduate School), U.S. News #25 Among National Universities, U.S. News #30 Among Top Colleges, Forbes Best Medical School (Research), U.S. News #35 Best Medical School (Primary Care), U.S. News #37 Best Engineering School (Graduate), U.S. News |
This med school ranking is complete BS. Nebraska, Cincinnati, Iowa and Alabama are also ranked higher than Georgetown. Something is wrong with this ranking. DH is a physician and many excellent physicians come out of Georgetown. |

Don’t the UVA boosters get tired?
I don’t see any Harvard or Penn posters boost those schools nearly as much as UVA. |
Nice link from 2018. The current (2022) class of (41) Marshall Scholarships contains none from either UVA or Georgetown. (It does, however, contain graduates from WVU, Syracuse and Montana State -- by your logic, should we consider those schools to be better than UVA?) UVA boosters have a really bad reputation on this site. Dishonest/misleading claims like yours explain why. |
The "publication" is Virginia (UVA) Magazine. Did you really think it helped your argument to try to hide the source of this promotional material? At any rate, Virginia Magazine apparently has more integrity than you. Here's a piece they wrote about UVA's drop in the rankings a couple of years ago: https://uvamagazine.org/articles/uva_takes_a_tumble_in_u.s_news_2020_rankings |
| Georgetown is a very good place to go for undergrad |
Condescension doesn't help your argument. |
Blame the rankings! |
Go read BUM or PUM. |
People tend to like cheaper colleges, even if they are throwing money on other things. |
It's called 'Value' In general, if price is the same, then Georgetown. if UVA instate and Georgetown full pay, then UVA |
It's not condescension but a correction, of PP's misleading and borderline dishonest statement. Aggrieved over-reaction and deflection is a time-honored tactic of snowflakes and trolls. |
