Swanson actually allows them to eat indoors or outdoors I think which is ideal if you have the right setup, which they do.

+2. As a wms parent, I am speaking out about asking for it to return, and I would appreciate others speaking up as well.

They just lost like 12 teachers due to budget cuts. They dont have the staff for supervision, which is needed, based off the behavior issues last year. Kids already getting in trouble outside after lunch this year!

What budget cuts? What budget cuts are targeted that heavily at Williamsburg? Was it less teachers due to lower enrollment? This makes no sense.

Great question for you to ask at the upcoming PTA meeting. I urge you to attend.

I don't have children at Williamsburg so won't be doing that. I have a child at another middle school. And what does the PTA have to do with explaining APS "budget cuts" and staffing?

What makes no sense is acting like Williamsburg was somehow targeted for "budget cuts", which I'm guessing is not a fully accurate portrayal of the situation.

Other middle schools are managing to supervise outdoor lunch.

PTA meetings have representation from the Principal and is a forum to discuss school-wide issues.

No one acted like WMS specifically was targeted, you made that assumption for some strange reason. Parents at WMS whining about no more outdoor lunch need to understand why there is no longer outdoor lunch- lack of available teachers to supervise.

Portraying it as "budget cuts" rather than what it likely is which is losing teachers due to lower enrollment is in fact misleading. Budget cuts as a general rule are very much targeted. So not a strange assumption.

I spoke to a former teacher at WMS who was surplussed to another school. It was lower enrollment. It's not budget cuts. Still doesn't really add up this is a reason given to not allow outdoor lunch. You have the number of staff you are supposed to have and other middle schools manage with the same resources. I guess that's what to bring up at the PTA meeting.
