+1. Middle schools don’t get a real recess, so if they finish lunch early they have more time to move around. Fresh air and sunshine are huge. My DS enjoyed it even into cooler temps late fall and early spring. |
My kids like eating outdoors when it's warm enough. The eating outdoors in cold weather is complete COVIDian safety theater.
Families are packing into restaurants all the time, except for a hardcore 10%. Bars and restaurants are wide open, but they had kids sitting outside in cold weather. My kids shouldn't have to suffer because of these nuts' irrational fear. |
do you realize how irrational you sound? your poor kids are suffering because they are outside for a little while? do you want them to skip recess too? |
Pack a blanket in their bag. Honestly, you can get a fleece throw for like $3 at Five Below. Maybe some hand warmers too. The benefits of fresh air FAR outweigh any discomfort to me. |
I grew up in California literally never setting foot in a cafeteria, so outdoor lunch seems normal to me. But, only if its optional. It does get cold (and too hot) and rainy and snowy here. And lack of tables sounds miserable. Fine if they want to do this, but make it normal, not covid theater. |
At our school it is normal. They have tables. |
But then the won't get to name call and play victim. |
That's good, and I assume kids have the choice to go inside if it's hot or rainy or too cold? |
I grew up in AZ and we ate outside a lot too (we didn't have outdoor tables but just sat in the grass or on a random bench). Anyway, whoever up there said that going out in the cold increases illness. This is not true. The reason cold weather increases illness is because folks are inside more and viruses have a higher rate of spread. Thus in nicer weather the rate of spread reduces because folks are outside more. My kid just randomly came up to me to say that he hopes outdoor lunches continues because 1) its quieter (no echo), 2) they get more time to play, and 3) its cleaner |
Does Campbell do outside lunch? |
As is has said everyone eats in the cafeteria this year. |
What does this mean? |
Do you mean ASFS? If so that's not surprising but a bummer. I wish they would give kids the option, mine enjoyed outdoor lunch more (nothing to do with covid stuff, just because it's not as loud etc). |
Claremont is continuing outdoor lunch which we are thrilled about |
Key is not unfortunately. |
