Okay, before you name call, get your facts and timeline correct. He was arrested in January of 2016. But even if it were March, Obama was still president until January of 2017. Further: "On March 16, 2016, a few hours after U.S. envoy Bill Richardson met in New York with two North Korean diplomats from the United Nations office to press for Warmbier's release,[32][33] Warmbier was tried and convicted in North Korea's Supreme Court." John Kerry also tried to intervene. NK played hardball because they knew Otto WAS ALREADY IN A COMA. They didn't release him until Trump was in office, and they felt safe from ANY repercussions. Um, the 2016 election happened in November. Just like they always do. |
| Only cowards negotiate with terrorists. |
This is a garbage line from movies. We always negotiate with terrorists. Usually not before extracting a pound of flesh, but we always do. We negotiated with the Taliban for YEARS. We negotiated with Qadafi. Putin. Kim jong un. The job description of the president includes negotiating with lots of evil people. |

| A notorious arms dealer for some woman who plays a game for a living? How’s that a fair trade? |
We can’t kill him, if he’s in prison. Look at the bright side. |
This is monumentally stupid. What makes anyone think the Russian is going to prison in Russia once he gets exchanged? He has extensive specialized expertise in evading sanctions and in smuggling weapons to coup plotters. Putin needs help evading sanctions and in continuing to pursue his plans at plotting coups and destabilizing nations by arming local terrorists and warlords. Russia doesn't want to exchange this guy to punish him, they want to exchange him because they have work for him. |
Oh sweetie… no. I’m not saying the Russians will kill him. Bless your heart. |
We're also getting one of those - Paul Whelan. I can't believe people accept the Russian accusations (and so-called confessions/guilty pleas) at face value. There are two American citizens who are being held as political prisoners. Our relationship with Russia is deteriorating by the minute. You get your citizens home and press on with sanctions. Viktor Bout is one person who's been locked up for the last ten years. He took advantage of the dissolution of the Soviet Union to set up and run his business.Things have changed and unless he can produce for Putin he'll be cast aside into obscurity. This is a good trade. |
I don't live in Moscow and don't plan to move there, so I'm not too worried. |
What crime do you think Warmbier committed? |
LOL are you quite sure you're describing Russia? One can think of another country where these skills would be in much demand... |
I’m a staunch conservative and don’t really care if this is a big political win for Biden. This is someone’s life at stake in a country known to brutalize their people. Let Biden have the win. |
He took a poster off a wall. And for that, he was murdered and tortured by a madman. I don’t care what she does or does not do. She’s an American. Get her out. No man left behind. |
