Potluck fails - help

Anonymous
My mst popular potluck dishes have been

Caprese salad - I buy the big container f marinated mozzarella balls at Costco and a Costco a Kate of compari tomatoes. Quarter tomatoes, throw into a bowl. Use a slotted spoon to scoop out the milk zzarella balls and throw them not the bowl. Stir to mix together. Done. The mozzarella balls have so many ch marinade that the amount covering the balls is plenty to coat the tomatoes. Don’t dump the remaining marinade in the bowl.

Deviled eggs - I add a spoonful of sweet pickle relish and a small of mustard with a good mayo for the filling.

For Mexican, I will coursly cut chicken breasts into cubes or strips. Marinade in a mesquite grill mix. Cook in a large sauté/fry pan with a small amount of oil. It has enough flavor fr adults but not too spicy for kids. If I’m doing the whole bmeal, I’ll serve with tortillas, tortilla chips, Mexican rice and a big bowl of lettuce along with toppings in separate bowls ..grated cheese, jalapeños, salsa, sour cream, black beans, diced tomatoes, black olives etc. This way people can choose what they want. Vegetarian can just do rice and beans, low carb people can do meat and toppings over lettuce, people can make a burrito or a rice bowl or nachos.

^ I love layer dip. If you rather not buy all the ingredients to make, TJ and Costco have good layer dips.

The trays of Chik-Fil-A nuggets always go fast
Fruit always is popular with the picky kids
There's usually too much pasta salad
Sushi is popular when people have brought it

We have a family member that brings sushi all the time. Mentally, I can't eat raw sushi that has been sitting in car ride then on table - too risky.

Fresh cheesy tomatoes are far better than sun dried. The pretzel thing just sounds gross. I’d look for a different recipe site.

The NYT times cooking subscription has really good recipes.

I followed the tips here - don’t cook it al dente, don’t use raw veg etc - but clearly thst wasn’t a good idea

Addictive (or “crack”) corn dip.

You are probably making things too complicated. Go for simpler items.

Losers can't read - OP says she doesn't have family recipes and didn't grow up eating that food. Why should she bring food that she doesn't know anything about so you can try something "ethnic" for kicks?

Ah, the irony.

OP says she doesn’t have recipes for the potluck food she brings because she didn’t grow up eating American potluck food since she is an immigrant from Peru.
