Yes most of West Virginia is a dump (I said it). It’s also always been “othered” by virtue of it being in Appalachia and the citizens have been and are disenfranchised by design.

It’s not all toothless idiots here.

It’s amazing how all these supposedly woke liberals are perfectly willing to stereotype and be prejudicial towards poor, white people.

Seems like the tolerance is one sided on this thread.[/quote

lol white people love to equate not wanting to live near bigots to actual bigotry.

That's ridiculous. It's perfectly reasonable for a non-white person to not want to live in a state or city that is almost all white. If I weren't white, I wouldn't either. Hell, I AM white and I still wouldn't want to.

But to suggest that you wouldn't want to because white people are bigots? That makes YOU a bigot.

Where else can Mom be sister in law and great aunt? And sitting the old Hotpoint on the front porch, the 78 Buick next to the family outhouse while the chickens roost in the ‘just for company’ two-holer?

DP. That not how it works. Were you educated in WV or something?

DC is ugly and so are the people. Yuck.

That's the target house. The door looks like a stockade. It's gonna need more fortification. It is the first one that people will rage on when the revolution happens.

Lol - that is 7 miles to Morgantown high by helicopter maybe. That is an easy 30’min bus each way to school.

House cost: $280K
Taxes per year: $800 (NOT a typo)!

We have a beach / lake club, sunset views of the valley, driving distance to over 30 wineries and breweries, Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, tubing, hiking.

The people are very friendly and contrary to what people say about folks in WV I like them a lot. Hard working, honest, kind.

You are happy hanging with people educated in a place where public schools are 47th in the nation.
You are happy giving your money to people who voted Joe Manchin in over and over again.
WVA ranks at the bottom for health care.

Shall I continue? Nah you have fun. Keep giving your hard-earned monies to grifters.

Gosh - among the handful of my WV friends ( granted Berkeley or Jefferson County): two Harvard grads; an architect; college admissions counselor; artist; two bakers; a woodworker; a more than a few attorneys. All of whom are deeply invested in making WV a better place…

Move there you will be happier.

Hate to be mean to you, but you are unfortunately an extremely elitist, ignorant, and rude person to make comments like this. Good thing you get to hide behind an anonymous forum.

I don't know a single person moving to W Va and we moved out of the DC area, farther out in VA. We're working for big organizations, so we have a lot of coworkers and acquaintances.

So white. I love it.

Yeah OP must have a strange group of friends and colleagues considering WV's non-stop population decline.

Way move anywhere? Why not stay where you are?

WV? Nope
Florida? Nope
Texas? Nope
Arizona? Nope
Why go?
Anonymous
Pretty doesn't mean I need to move there. There has to be more of a reason.

Anonymous wrote:I loved our visits to WV over the past few years as WV reminds me of my rural hometown, but I did sense that I would not have been welcome if I weren't white. Specifically, there was a "Blue Lives Matter" sign hanging in the window of the police station.

I was at Seneca rocks a few weeks ago and there was an entire school bus of children at the visitor center. Probably half were black. No one even looked twice. I’m not sure why people are dead set on assuming West Virginians are all racist trump supporters.

Maybe let’s let those kids be the ones who say whether the crushing racist history of WV is something they notice, rather than a white mom?

Umm you know why it’s West Virginia and not part or Virginia still right

This. News flash: most white people are racist or have had to actively unlearn racist tendencies.
