Why is Safeway so expensive compared to others and it's the worst, please go bankrupt

I thought Safeway was already run by Albertson's.

Safeway in Bradlee shopping center is the worst, low staff, slow staff, long check out lines, why do they have so many check out lines when only one or two are open? Prices are so much higher than other stores. I won't be going back. I do wonder why people shop there.

It’s the union and/or how Safeway deals with union demands

Safeway is for lazy rich people

Safeway Bethesda Sangamore is the same. Like the staff couldn't be more surly and unhelpful if they try. Avoid.

The Giant in our neighborhood is awful. I don't know how that location stays in business.

The Giants in much nicer neighborhoods are respectable.

Who don’t grow their own vegetables and fruits.

We much prefer the Kensington Safeway to the Giant up the street in Wheaton.

I’ve always thought Safeway was reasonably priced. It’s Harris teeter that always shocks me with the prices

Instead of reducing the price to encourage people to buy produce nearing the end of its life, they let it all rot and throw it in a dumpster out the back.

Safeway produce is notoriously the absolute worst. It’s so weird, it’s all the same brands as other stores yet it’s horrible. Tasteless or a mouthful of chemicals or just plain old and gross. Consistently terrible

Our Safeway is the 2nd lowest cost (Lidl has lowest prices but variable quality). Our Safeway is lower cost than Giant or Wegmans or Whole Foods (the other options near us). It is large, clean, bright, well stocked and well staffed. So we shop there all the time.

It sounds like OP lives near a dud though. Maybe OP should complain to the Corporate office - complaints directly to the local store are a waste of time.

We cannot afford to shop at either HT or Wegmans. Safeway is so much lower cost for same quality.

Seriously! OP, should no stores exist that you don’t personally like?

100%

The Giant in Olney is new and fine, but I still prefer Safeway.

The Giant in Flower Hill is gross. The Giant on Shady Grove is on its way to gross.
