I know of at least one person who received an outright rejection.

my son

We know of a student taking college-level math and waitlisted. Another with a 4.0 and Algebra II and waitlisted. Another with less than 4.0 and Algebra I and admitted. All at the same school.

Based on the information we have so far, it seems like it was a lottery. I'm not sure anyone on the admissions committee even read the essays.

May be their SPS and problem solving question wasn’t effective.

+1. I have stories like this as well. I think a big bump was given for the meals question.

Yes, that may be the explanation. But it seems less and less likely the more we learn.

My kid who I thought for sure will be rejected is waitlisted.

I’m beginning to think it really was a lottery of sorts.

Protect your privacy.

Since a majority of applicants will be denied. There will be some who hope to contest the admissions process; which means that if you were admitted then the best option is to not disclose your child’s personal and private information.

Lastly, the comments here would not represent a randomized sample and this are not likely to reflect the true applicant pool.

Singed nerdy parent of brilliant gem

I don’t think anyone believes it’s a representative sample Sherlock. And nerdy parent of a brilliant gem? I can’t tell if you are trolling.

The B- student will struggle at TJ. They should think about attending base school instead.

My child was admitted and child's friend. Both Algebra2/Trig. Both part of the top 6-7 kids in school. My child was confident about getting because of essay on Heredity. Doesn't look like a lottery to me at all.
