Please tell me what you would do in my situation because I am at a loss (childcare)

Where do you live OP? I have a hard time believing you can't at least find a spot at an in-home daycare for a 2yo. Its under 2 that is more problematic. But if like someone else said you plan to enroll your child in preschool in the fall anyway you may just want to wait it out.

Just interesting and anecdotal.. I can’t imagine her being concerned at 2.5!

Yes, neither of my children received the rotavirus vaccine (also on Humira for both pregnancies and told no live vaccines until 6 months after birth, and since they don't give rotavirus vaccine after 6 months of age, they never got it). We go to a large pediatricians office and no doctor that we saw at any point for either kid was ever concerned about the risk factor of daycare and both kids started around 4 months.

Definitely get on waiting lists for preschools.

can't believe there were 6 pages of nanny drama about this. My DS had a terrible reaction to the first dose of the rotavirus vaccine (in researching after I found this was probably more likely than an actual infection in our circumstances) so he didn't get the second dose and we opted out of it for our second child. Same as PP, both kids in daycare from 4 months, no one had any concerns.

You’re not responsible for the full cost of his childcare, just half (if your husband is in the picture). You shouldn’t think of it as coming out of your salary alone — he also needs childcare.

OP here.

We’ve just decided to forego the nanny entirely and go to the au pair route. We just registered with an agency and are hoping to find someone by September. We’re looking at part time preschool for September, maybe 2-3 mornings/week. ODDLY enough, my old job is still hiring for my position 4 months after the fact. I just talked to my old boss and he wants to hire me back, so all good things.

Our pediatrician said preschool is fine, she was more so concerned with our son being an infant in daycare. She said he’s had enough time to build up his immune system since then.
