TJ Admissions has confirmed that they will release decisions on Friday the 20th after 6:00 PM. |
| Results should be out on Friday after 5pm. |
+1. The free meals question should have been thrown out. |
| For those of you looking for last year's admission data by school, it is here - http://www.fcag.org/tjstatistics.shtml |
I heard they checked this and disqualified anyone who lied. |
The way it was worded everyone could have answered yes. It would be easy enough to verify. |
Not really people knew they were lying and should be disqualified if they answered yes when financially they don’t qualify. |
But “top” is not determined by academic performance or STEM passion. It includes demographic “experience factors.” |
They did not check last year. I would be shocked if they checked this year. The middle schools have no idea what a family's current economic situation is this (or last) school year. A middle school front office worth their salt is going to shrug and say "Who knows?" if Mr. Shugurt started calling around. The TJ admissions office should have gone back to each and every family that checked Yes to either box and asked them to fill out the FARMS form. |
OR THE TJ ADMISSIONS OFFICE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN HOW TO WRITE THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS. Seriously. Did they not have ANYONE with half a brain read the meals questions ahead of time? |
|
I was wondering if the question was purposely worded the way it was. That way the admissions office could claim “economic diversity” wink wink nod nod. |
|
Can you explain what the meal question was? Didn't everyone get free lunch because of COVID?
|
| What does the Academy of Loudoun think of people who renege and go with TJ? On the other hand I think TJ is too far for Loudoun kids if they have a choice between that and AOL. |
In a nutshell: Every single person who is under the age of 18 living within Fairfax County is ELIGIBLE for free breakfast and lunch this year. (It does not even matter if they are in public school, homeschooled or in private school - there’s actually a system set up for private/homeschooled kids). Everyone is eligible for free meals due to the Covid Waiver. Doesn’t matter if your dad is a billionaire or if you are homeless. Every child living in Fairfax County *is* ELiGIBLE for free meals for the 2021-22 school year. Period. The two questions asked by the TJ Admissions office were: Are you eligible for free or reduce priced meals? Are you currently receiving free or reduced price meals? Do you see the problem here? |
