We have a pending application @ TJ, but have also decided against going, regardless of the decision.

Why's that?

It was DD’s decision.

Our local HS is excellent, she decided she wants to be around friends she has, and her focus is now more on medical school and less on engineering (and she does not feel TJ is necessary for her career path).

Your DD will have a higher GPA at the base school.

Will TJ notify only successful students or everyone regardless of whether they have been admitted or not?

NP. How do you know this? PP, didn’t say her DD wasn’t bright or motivated. Maybe she is turned off by the AAP pre-TJ culture. I know my DC is.

She can be "bright" or even "gifted" - she will have a higher GPA at a base school than TJ.

Still no word on this. Don’t think the results are coming out this Friday.

You have no clue if that is the case. She might have been in the top 1% at TJ. Someone is in that spot, why wouldn't it be her?

My unweighted GPA went from maybe a 3.5 in middle school when I wasn't trying to a 4.0 once I had challenging classes that were more engaging at TJ.

The Admissions Office notifies all applicants as to their status. It will be either Offered, Not Offered, or Wait Pool.

What the hell is taking so long? The admission results should have been ready to go before the delay. Haven’t these kids been through enough?

Ummmm… how did you get into TJ with a 3.5?

Not the original poster, but TJ was our backup school. We would be disconnected for events at TJ because of how far it is, and I think for our kid he prefers being at base high school with his friends, while only going every other day for advanced classes at AOS.

Really wish FCPS would change TJ to the AOS model. It makes so much more sense and would serve more kids.

AOS takes only approx 120 kids from several thousands of middle schoolers. Their analytical written test is so tough that only kids who gets coaching and practices can make it. What does it mean? Kids who just takes academic classes cannot make it AOS. Gifted kid cannot get analytical skills automatically so that he can be top 7 of 700 eight graders. f

That's great! There are so few spots and so many kids who would really benefit. It's best when those who don't really value STEM education stay at their home school.

Is it sarcastic post?

Someone should call the office and ask what’s going on…. If it was coming tomorrow, we should have received email already about it. I am sure they are going to drag it till next weekend.

I would stop complaining. Class of 2025 didn’t get results til after school was out in June.
