Glad glad it worked out!

We went to an in-network provider at Georgetown. Her surgery is scheduled and it is covered by insurance.

Thanks for the update!

We found a surgeon we liked but they just notified us they no longer take our insurance - BCBS federal. I have researched the requirements for coverage and it would be covered under their policy under the circumstances.

Does anyone have a surgeon they recommend?

Thank you!

That is not medically required surgery. No health insurance will cover that. It's a cosmatic surgury.

Size G???? I couldn't imagine the weight. I'm an A.

Dr. Frank Albino is a fantastic plastic surgeon. And he's so nice!

I was a 32EE in high school. It sucked. While you get the surgeon sorted… Recommend finding pretty bras (Chantelle does a nice job - the French don’t seem to think girls with big boobs need to look like grandmas) and there are some mail order companies that curate nice swimsuits designed for the well endowed. Had luck there. Considered a reduction in HS but didn’t pursue it. Was really glad I left them alone bc breastfeeding worked out really well for me, and it can be tricky post reduction. Also my kids drank a few cup sizes. I was a 32D by 45 (now 34D) which is much more manageable clothing-wise. Good luck whatever she decides!

Just got home from the hospital last night. We ended up using a surgeon recommended here, and it was covered by insurance with a manageable copay. I feel like she's young but she was very clear she wanted to do it and it was interfering with her quality of life. I hope she's happy with the results, we can't tell yet as it as she's all bandaged up. I can tell you it was hard on a mama!!

Huh, I did way back in 1995. This is not a new thing.

I knew someone in high school who had it done in 1987. Seriously considering it for myself (38G) and my 16yo dd (32DDD/G). Tried to go bra shopping and bathing suit shopping with her recently and it was awful. Tons of tears. She is also an athlete. She actually likes the way she looks, but has back pain and can't find teenage-appropriate bathing suits or bras.

Congrats! I hope she has an easy recovery.

As someone who had it done in my 30's I'm so happy for your DD! Once she recovers she'll be so comfortable and happy with what she can wear. Wish I'd had the opportunity when I was younger.

Thank you for sharing this. She's in so much pain I think she's feeling a little regret, and as a mom of a kid so young that is hard. But she insisted over 2 years and would text me after every sports practice "I NEED A REDUCTION MOM!!" so I'm hoping she will also be happy she did it once she recovers. It was a hard decision for me, but her doctors agreed it made sense due to her physical issues and sports.

For most of my life I was 34B to 36C. The past couple years I’ve gained weight and maybe perimenopause is doing something weird? Anyway I can’t figure out how big I am but I think I am somewhere between a 36 DDD and 38 DD or DDD.

Anyway the thing is I’m actually fine pain wise as long as I’m NOT wearing a bra. The problem that brings pain is the bras!! I honestly wonder how much back pain caused by large breasts is due to the bras as opposed to simply having large breasts.

I’m just not wearing bras again until I lose more weight. Screw it. I’m not going to feel like I’m putting my chest in a vise just to compress my chest.

And why is all the marketing and design about making your chest smaller at this size??
