Seriously! This is OP and I worked for the Federal agent that administers the insurance plans. I know the plan, I know the policy, I've talked to them, I know exactly how much tissue needs to be removed and what documentation we need. Every plan is different and has different criteria. Let it go, please! |
She's done growing, she has grooves in her shoulders, back pain, headaches, neck aches, and is a serious athlete. I think she's probably bigger than a 32G, that's what she wears, but they don't really fit. |
And the medical professionals tell us it will only get worse. "catch up" with what?? I don't want her to have to spend more years struggling with this. I was obese as a teen, and although it is different I know what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own body. My mother has the same issue, and she's 75 and says she WISHES she did it as a teenager. |
| A G cup!? My goodness, I hope she does get a reduction. I’m a DD after kids and strongly considering a reduction - the back pain is real. |
Wrong. Same problem here and mine was fully covered. |
They outline very specific requirements for breast reduction - many of which people with large breasts have already met. |
My sister had it done at 17 and it was covered, no documented history of back pain, it was destroying her posture though. Pediatrician agreed that it should be considered and referred her to a surgeon. Surgeon agreed it should be done and sent what was needed to insurance to get it covered. |

Following because I'm sure this is in our future.
My 13 year old is a DD and I'm guessing she isn't done developing. |
Please explain, How do you "catch up" to a DDs or G sizes? The only way would be if you end up being 6'.0" and 200lbs at least. LOL. |
Reduction in situations of need really must be taken more seriously, I feel. Clearly, the young woman here really needs this therapeutic surgery, especially as she is an athlete. I don’t understand why some people just can’t see the wide difference between a necessary reduction, and the whole cosmetic, elective, enhancement industry. They are completely different, people! |
| I also used Stephen Baker at Georgetown (20 years ago) and am still thrilled with the results. Was able to breastfeed. Did it in my 20s and wish I had done it sooner. Good luck. |
| breast surgery is covered as medical- especially if you have back problems, are out of proportion (sounds like 32G is) and how much you are being reduced. PP is a moron. |
you are clearly not a 32G. |
Dr. Stephen Baker did mine. Georgetown Hospital. He takes BCBS, same insurance I have. GL. |
| My early 20s daughter just had this done by Dr. Ximena Pinnel on New Mexico Ave and had a great experience. She has been so happy with the results. |
