Breast surgeon for teen (BCBS federal)

I have not had reduction surgery but did have breast reconstruction surgery, so just passing along the name of my plastic surgeon. I know he does more than reconstruction but do not know if that includes reductions. Maurice Nahabedian in McLean.

Huh, I did way back in 1995. This is not a new thing.

Dr. Troy Pittman is wonderful. But I don't think he takes insurance.

FACTS. Had mine covered in 1994 while on parent insurance, 20 years old. Went from a 38H to 38C. Life changing.

Insurance of 2022 is nothing like insurance coverage of 90s. Get with it.

OP people will be more helpful, less sidetracked on the health and medicine forum.

I had a reduction when I was in my 40s and wish I had done it when I was young- I never liked my breasts, didn't like the heaviness, how clothes fit and they made me extremely self conscious. I would let my DD decide once they have a throrough discussion with a surgeon to understand the entire procedure.

My 13 year old is a DD and I'm guessing she isn't done developing.

Another mom of a large-breasted 13 y/o here. I’m curious about when they might reasonably be expected to stop growing? Is it like height? Around 2 years post-period? I’m just trying to figure out how much to invest in these $$$ bras before she outgrows them again…

Robert Howard at Georgetown. Excellent skill and great bedside manner.

OP, I had a reduction at 25 and it was life changing! My only regret was not doing it sooner.

Not at all trying to dissuade you from the surgery here - the back issues are real. But in the meanwhile, if you need to buy a swimsuit for her have you tried Bravissimo?

Your age?

Referring MD here and have had many patients have reduction in late teen years. I highly recommend Stephen Baker- he's excellent and great with teens. And yes, insurance covers with appropriate documentation from referring doctor.

Just to follow up on this for anyone interested or those who search in the future.

We went to an in-network provider at Georgetown. Her surgery is scheduled and it is covered by insurance.
