Why do people on this board hate on Georgetown?

But the claim that "everything" is broken and full of rats/mold and so on is just silly. A lot of buildings could use some sprucing up, but the place is perfectly habitable, and I've never encountered any rats (except in the aforementioned administration!).

Things like that Instagram account are like all online reviews: usually people don't bother to post unless their views are extreme, and people who are extremely negative post more than people who are extremely positive.

They are spending millions on the hospital now. Maybe the dorms are next.

Georgetown’s abbreviation is typically GU, not GT.

GT is Georgia Tech

I’m aware. We’re on our phones and there’s no edit button. You precision people are going to stroke out if you don’t allow for that when you’re reading.

This is how I feel about secular institutions. I firmly believe nobody is getting a well rounded education without philosophy and theology requirements involved with an overall curriculum. After I saw AU’s core curriculum it was quite frightening.

There are things to dislike about every school. For Georgetown it’s:

Weak endowment
Georgetown area is a pain/no metro/no parking
Super expensive
Lots of rich international students
Preppy vibe
For DC locals it isn’t far enough away as I’d want for my kids to attend
Catholic/Jesuit might turn some off (not me)

You left out the shoddy upkeep—which is all over the internet.

You forgot the first one: they can't get in.

AU gets lots of appreciative posts.

??

Because of the infamous college chant - Georgetown sucks.

GWU used to be a solid school - went rapidly downhill starting in the late 1980s. Still not on its way back

AU went woke big time, looks like they made a good hire as new president so hopefully on their way back.

There are some staged anonymous posts on certain sites - does not mean it is true - imagine that!

Irony? Methinks.

Also, the school is undergoing major construction as we speak, so maybe stay in your own lane, OP.

Talk to us when you are admitted. Or committed. Whichever comes first.

For Georgetown, it's the weak endowment. It affects everything - from maintenance and renovations to financial aid. It has a disproportionate number of wealthy students, including many that are international, and not a lot of middle or upper middle class students. It affects the vibe and can be off-putting. Also, besides business and foreign affairs, it's not that strong academically. At least not enough to justify a T25 ranking. It feels like its glory years are in the rear view mirror.

we went on a tour last summer and the campus seemed very nice and pretty!

It's gorgeous - and we have toured tons of campuses, all over, between each of our DC, so far.

The buildings are very nice and pretty from the outside. They're mostly decrepit on the interior.

Signed,

The biggest GU booster on this board (yet realistic about its facilities)

Many of thebuildings are being redone. There is a ton of construction on campus, as we speak.

LOL what? GW has ridiculous tuition for a mediocre education.

That poster is laughable not only on your uninformed Georgetown commentary but you throwing in Tufts and Washu. Tell it to the recruiters and employers!
