OP here,

I am so sorry, I hope your next job was more pleasant then you previous.
I left work early and my husband gave me some ideas and experiment to try at work to solve my little problem. First I'm completely going to stop using the kitchen at work, I'm taking my own mini microwave and fridge tomorrow. If the manager or HR gives me issues, I'm going to get a note from my doctor that I've been getting sick because of work issues, especially my food allergies.

Two can play this game, if HR doesn't want to do the dirty work then I will. I know for fact this lady does not eat beef only fish Monday through Friday. So, I have decided even that I'm not fond of beef myself, I will bring some everyday and warm it up or just cook it up for 15-20 minutes. See how she like the smell of rotten meat every single day! 😂

It probably won't bother her because she doesn't have the OCD you're afflicted with. Don't visit the kitchen and bring your lunch everyday. Salads, sandwiches, humus, crackers, cheese, etc. etc. which doesn't even require a microwave. Stop being so dramatic. We get you don't like fish, but really that's on you. And her right to eat what she wants each day.

We cannot heat:
-fish
-broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts
-Indian/Thai food or any food with a strong spice smell
-popcorn
-bacon

That sounds really racist. Why target specific cultures? So wrong!

Probably a troll. A company cannot legally do this.

It's true.
My company didn't state the nationalities cuisines, only that food with any strong odor is not welcome in the work kitchen/share eating area.

This. OP, she has a right to eat what she wants. I don’t like rude people on DCUM, but I don’t try to get them banned (unless they’re racist or something).

I absolutely abhor the smell of fish. It's nauseating. I worked with a Vietnamese guy many years ago, and about once a quarter he brought in something that smelled like rot. It remains to this the most offensive thing I've ever smelled. It was runny and green and just vile. He was a great guy the other nights of the year (we worked graveyard so it wasn't like there was anyplace else to go.)

My two cents is 1. OP is right. Fish is nasty (as are other things, but fish in particular is offensive to most people.) 2. No one needs to eat a hot lunch every single day of the week, especially a stinky one. Bring a sandwich or salad, or fruits and veg with cheese etc. There's zero reason to be stinking up the joint with your nasty leftovers.

Lolz and you’re losing, hunny, you’re out here bringing in appliances like a loser. You sound deranged.

Definitely not crazy,

Just sick of smelling fish everyday. Monday through Friday. No thank you

Reasons why I will never go back to the office. Life is too short to deal with the fish lady period. I always make sure my job has a cafeteria before I sign my contract.

This has to be a troll post with all the weird replies OP is making.

If it is true,
What you like may not be what she likes OP. I wanted to throw up when I went into an "authentic" Chinese restaurant because of all the seafood smell. But then again, there were others who hated the yogurt rice smell (did not need heating but when opened stank up the whole area) or the curry smell of the food brought in by fellow South Asians. Nothing you can do really.

So you turn down job opportunities, maybe better ones, if there’s no cafeteria. OP is hauling in appliances.

Maybe you geniuses would be better served by a “get along” mentality.

Yikes, don't blame you for being frustrated. I'd be annoyed AF. I'm Indian and don't bring certain dishes as I know the smell will last. As far as pps talking about religious preferences, so?? That doesn't mean you get to stink up a communal area.

+1.

I find it very rude as well as inconsiderate that she would continually do this after being told not to.
Personally I think since she is not heeding the warning - she needs to be talked to again.

Smh 🤦🏻‍♂️.
Some people need to be told something a few times before it actually soaks in.
She sounds like one.

People here don't seem to understand that "stinky" is subjective.

OP, I don't understand what your food allergies have to do with this. Are you eating the fish??
