My coworker eats fish everyday at work!

I don’t understand. Why can’t she eat fish. Would you rather her eat McDonald’s?

My office has a food policy and from reading this thread, I'm so thankful!

We cannot heat:
-fish
-broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts
-Indian/Thai food or any food with a strong spice smell
-popcorn
-bacon

If it was just some co-worker I'd tell them to leave the rock they've been hiding under.

LOL. People are so stupid. Your office has every right to make rules around the use of the kitchen. Or to not provide a kitchen at all.

She can eat all the fish she wants. The issue is the reheating which leaves a smell that permeates the workspace.

Just about everything does. I make lamb stew and maybe others find that offensive. Too bad I'm warming it up. We also eat elk meat which is very healthy. This is your opinion based on your diet which you can't dictate to anyone else.

Not when they are targeting various ethnic cuisine, or a national origin.

I agree, and that could land them a lawsuit.

I wish HR would tell me what I can and cannot eat for lunch. The complainers need to grow up. I just warmed up roasted Brussels sprouts and I dare someone to complain.

If you put 100 random adults in a room, and asked them to write down one food, whether they like it or not, has a lingering, intense odor that stays after being microwaved, 85 of them would write “fish.” No one would write “lamb stew.”

This has to be a troll. There is no way a company in 2022 has a regulation banning the reheating of all food from two entire cultures.

I agree that when we start complaining about food smells it is a slippery slope. She can start complaining about the smell of your food. Besides, she could have dietary issues, religious issues or it could simply be cultural. When HR Starts controlling and banning what certain people eat they are stepping into a potential discriminatory lawsuit.

NP. +1

I ate with a coworker who frequently heated up fish and I used to complain. They complained right back about my heated up feta. We were both disliked by many.

I agree! Nor would it be legal, lol.

Is it ok to steam sterilize pump parts though? It’s in a bag.
