Consumer Product Safety Commission investigation into Pampers Dry Max

Haha. Too funny.

I was wondering this just the other day because DS had a big ole poop that I wasn't expecting at 2am. I was being lazy and I was changing him in his crib, w/o a pad. I ended up w/ a HUGE poop stain. Actually, 3 huge poop stains.

Wiped most of off with some wipes, then I rinsed most of the poop off in the bathroom sink and soaked it and scrubbed a little by hand. Then, I just threw it in the wash. Our family is now coated in feces!

Huge poop stain *on his crib sheet*, I should clarify. It wasn't on me. Though that has happened before too.

Why not just throw the whole poop into the washing machine? Why are you wasting your time rinsing it off first?

Did you boil and bleach yourself? Do you not care that you are covered in feces?

We are reading this at work and we are laughing so hard. We know one woman in our office who uses cloth diapers, and we are worried she does this. I'll never shake her hand again! Thank god she never bakes brownies for the office.

I don't mind, actually - and I also don't wash my hands after using the toilet. Seriously, germs are everywhere. Some people may find that gross, but it is a fact of life.

Yes, be sure to tell her you'll never touch her again because she washes her diapers (according to the manufacturer instructions). That won't sound crazy at all.

I just read the fine print on the regular disposable diapers and found out we're supposed to dump the poop in the toilet before throwing the disposable diaper in the regular trash.

Who does it?

New poster here. I occasionally use cloth--along with disposable liners. I pick up the liner and flush it and the poop. (No dunking, swishing, or spraying.) The poop remaining on the diaper is little more than a poop stain. Then I wash the diapers twice in the washer, once on hot. I don't see how that's much different from washing something with a poop stain in a regular load of laundry. I don't think I'm covered in feces. When you change a poopy diaper and occasionally get poop on your hand, you wash it, right? You don't scrub yourself with bleach?

When I was growing up and went away to college, my mother warned me not to use a public laundromat because some women would just throw dirty diapers into the machines to wash their clothes, poop and all. I didn't believe her. I can't beleive what I'm reading. People really do this?

I'm not attacking, I sincerely want to know how this makes your washing machine cleaner than your toilet. Clean water flushes in to your toilet every time you flush, much in the same way that water flushes into your machine every time you use it? Are the special soaps you use for cloth diapers sanitizing your loads of laundry?

13:28: I know we're supposed to do that, too, but I don't.

I'm getting a big kick out of the "hose down your home with bleach" poster myself.

I had actually come in to see what people were saying about Pampers - remember that topic? We haven't had a problem (yet?) but this is obviously troubling. I considered cloth before #1 but got overwhelmed with the choices and didn't follow through. I'm likely to look into them again now. I know a handful of people who use them and have been very pleased.

Where did you read this? Where did anyone say they don't dump the poop, spray it off, or just lift it out with a disposable liner?

I don't know why I'm being called the "hose down your home with bleach" poster. I never said I clean my house with bleach. I never said I bathe in bleach. I never said I wash my clothes in bleach or boil my baby's clothing.

All I ever said was that once a week, I rinse out my washing machine with bleach. And, the few times I had to wash poopy articles, I did them separately and sanitized my machine after words. If this is OCD and over the top, then fine.

What you are really doing is shifting my words, exaggerating my comments, and trying to make me seem really extreme to justify your point. The microbiologist who studied this issue backs me up. You ARE covered in feces. If you are fine with that, why are you still arguing with me?

So to answer 8:26: You dunk that thing into the toilet, and swish it around until the poop comes off. YES, my 8yrold self had poo under my nails ALL THE TIME. It was HORRIBLE! I had no problem changing the boys, or baby sitting or cleaning house, but this task scarred me.

Well this is another reason, then. I'm a working mom, and cloth diapers aren't allowed at daycare. And when I am home with my kids, I want to spend my time WITH MY KIDS, not swishing poopy diapers around a toilet.

What? Good God no, I'm not swishing poopy diapers in the toilet. I have a little sprayer, I spray them off them into a laundry bag. Takes just a minute. I never have to run to the store for diapers and I never run out. (I guess, if we have to play this game, here's where I'm to required say I spend that time WITH MY KIDS.) My daycare accepted cloth diapers without blinking.
