Anyone know who Superintendent Finalist Canidates are?

This is what happens when the public is shut out of the process. There needs to be more transparency once the “search firm” vets viable candidates. The selection process and the fact that there’s probably not too many folks interested in coming to such a politically motivated county factors in.

The NAACP letter is incredibly slanted relying on nebulous claims of the interviewers’ impressions as a I highly doubt they went around the room to get everyone’s opinions but just were looking for a way to justifying to pick the most racial diverse candidate. LMAO at cherry on top of them claiming a 50 percent minority student district population in Washington as “minimal diversity”.

They really can’t do better than these two candidates? It’s a sad reflection on the depths to which FCPS has sunk. All we have to look forward to is more ridiculous equity babble and continued inattention to the basics.

Those two candidates CANNOT be the only two candidates left, right????? Seriously? If that is who is left, it REALLY says something about how undesirable FCPS has become with this school board. W.O.W.

This is what I said on page #1 of this thread:

"This is a situation -- especially after the past 2 years -- where anyone we would want for the job is smart enough not to apply for it. That leaves a second-tier group of people who are conceited enough to think they can do better and ambitious enough to need a higher position than they currently have.

We aren't going to get someone good, because those people wouldn't want what we are offering (especially with this hen-picking school board, and the intensity of these parents)
."

If those two candidates are what is left in the "competition" -- my prediction was correct. And more importantly, we are in DEEP TROUBLE.

Looks to me like we are getting Cheryl Logan. At least she has *some* idea of what this area is like. But, it's a long way from Parkdale HS to FCPS. God bless 'ya, Miss Logan, if you take this job.

I know who is probably happier than he's been in YEARS...Dr. Scott Brabrand! He's walkin' on sunshine.

Mediocre candidates who'll do nothing to stop the slide. It's time to defund FCPS and give parents better choices.

How will that attract better candidates for superintendent? Consider the current job market, and not just k-12 education. Many companies have to further incentivize to attract qualified candidates across the board. What does the FCPS superintendent make in salary and benefits while heading up a district with a $3 billion budget and what, 13,000+ employees? Falls Church City Schools has an enrollment of about 2500 students and last I knew the superintendent made ~$225k.

It needs to be Dr. Logan, the other lady from rural Washington State (think: Twilight) is not qualified for this job.

I don't know who would ever want this job at this moment in time, but Cheryl Logan seems like a reasonably strong candidate.

Not impressed by either in terms of their ability to deal with the challenges facing FCPS, which are aggravated by years of neglect, mismanagement, and a self-defeating focus on "equity" over excellence that's led to parents pulling over 10,000 kids out of FCPS.

I did a quick online calculator comparison and it is about 59% cheaper to live in Omaha than where I live in Fairfax County. Housing is 185% more here. Logan is making about $314k, which would have to increase to $532,708 to be comparable according to the online comparison.

I have no doubt they'll agree to pay her much more than Brabrand is making to "reward talent," and she will turn out to be just as bad if not worse.

This School Board is terrible in so many different ways. Terrible in their priorities, terrible in their meddling, terrible in their neglect, terrible in their inability to recruit a good leader, and terrible in their inability to see their own responsibility for the disaster that FCPS has become.

If it is Logan, some of the disrespect we've seen from the school board will vanish because the board members will check themselves for fear of appearing to bully a black woman. The board will be a victim of their own woke-ness...which may or may not benefit students/parents. It will be interesting to see how the board prostrates themselves to the new superintendent...after all the hen-pecking they did to Dr Brabrand.

I am a teacher in Omaha Public Schools, we have a lot of the same problems you have. A lot of folks are frustrated with Dr. Logan. We are not surprised to see her going. Our school board and the district are imploding. Our teacher pension was"mismanaged" and God only knows where that money went. It looks like she owns a residence 12 .miles from Faifax, so my guess is she is your new superintendent. Good Luck!

FCPS is a sad remnant of what it used to be. This School Board and its immediate predecessors have ruined it through years of incompetence, hypocrisy, and neglect.

For her own sake I hope Hogan realizes it is a sinking ship before signing on to captain the Titanic.
