Nope, firmly in the '80s. It was released in 1987.

I like Mel Brooks' earlier '80s films: History of the World, Part I and To Be or Not To Be

Better Off Dead. I am so sad that this is not available on streaming and that we don't have a DVD player. It is so random, but I loved it!

War Games

Awesome movie! I read somewhere that John Lennon was originally cast to play Professor Falken. He would have been great in that role.

I am going through menopause so cut me some slack on the obvious emotional puddle I am, but I cried reading this thread from nostalgia and sadness at being past the point in my
life when these movies held much meaning for me.

The Shining and Blade Runner. It's so difficult to find a site where you can watch such old movies. I use Kodi to watch movies. Recently I found this article https://www.firestickhow.com/exodus-kodi-addon.html and decided to try this addon. It's a really helpful thing and there I can find any movie I want.

I think it will be enjoyed by future generations to come.

A close second would have to be Sixteen Candles.
Unfortunately it could never be made in our current cultural times due to the “Long Duck Dong” storyline but as an Asian-American, I love it!! 🤣🤣🤣

Other faves include:
• The Lost Boys (R.I.P. to the ultra-talented star Corey Haim.)

• Stand By Me

• E.T. (but of course…..!)

• Top Gun (when Tom + Val we’re H-O-T!)

Actually what keeps me from showing Sixteen Candles to my twens/teens is not Long Duck Dong but the passing of the drunk girl from Jake to the nerd character where it's implied he can rape her. Eeeesh. At the time I thought nothing of it. Now....ugh....no interest in showing my boys that movie.

Back to the future and dirty dancing. Ferris Buellers day off is also up there, but not on the same level.
