Tell me more about these lowering standards? Considering applying for next year (though slightly less thrilled about it now)

There are no lowering standards. Total nonsense peddled by a disgruntled anti-mask mom

Again? Not true. Long list of schools. Correct use of funds. Unlike some of the dcumers’ businesses

NP but yes they are. It’s not the same rigor and absolutely no creativity on the teachers part. Most not all just go thru the motions of being there. The thinking , investigating on topics and fun is all gone.

I can’t even start to imagine the darkness of your mind, Grinch. Does word equity hurt like holy water?

Someone has to point out the racism underlying several of the posts. I hate that it had to be me, but there you are folks. That’s what these moms fret over with athletic recruits and financial aid

And BTW I don’t think all these moms doing that are White, in fact most aren’t

There is zero chance that they are giving staff salary increases anywhere near that. Because salaries are the biggest expense, there is zero chance that there expense rose 6-7%

You sure about that? Its only 6% and Houston Public Schools gave their teachers bonuses of $4,500. So did Atlanta - $4,000. Both increases are around 5% of pay. I heard FCPS gave bonuses as well but don't know how much.

so you think teachers in houston and atlanta make 90k a year??? hahahahahahaha they don't. maybe you want to check your math.

where are you going?

Nowhere. All the comparative schools in the city raised their prices last year, boarding school is more expensive, and public schools is worst off.

Not by 7% they didn't

Not enough.

15 year teacher 70-80ish

I really don't understand why schools that make millions in tuition every year don't pay teachers better.

Maybe if they paid their teachers better....as far as I can tell, the only benefit to teaching at a private is that all your kids speak English and no one is very far behind.

Is anyone willing to share the letter that explained the reasons for such a big jump? My DD is applying and this is a higher increase than at other schools she’s considering. It would be helpful to know what’s driving it.

Percentage?

Not a percentage but the notice said the school is increasing the financial aid budget at a rate at least equal to the tuition increase and establishing a financial aid contingency owing to the inflationary environment.

Teachers deserve a raise. Increasing tuition by 6.7% for FA budget is crazy
