No one is treated poorly. The 'athletes" are generally well integrated as a normal part of the student body and most of them partake in other parts of life of the school beyond academics.

Sidwell is joining other local privates moving to holding athletes separate and above other students, starting with admissions and even beginning to reach down into the MS level. So quite the opposite of treating poorly.
