Sidwell to increase tuition a WHOPPING 6.7%

In sidwell but not of sidwell? What does that mean?

Best to ignore that poster. She thinks that anyone who might have a criticism of the school is not "of Sidwell" and she makes sweeping personal attacks against them.

That’s interesting. The way it reads to me is that the OP posts her weekly anti-Sidwell crie de coeur

Then whines when she inevitably gets a massive push back with a healthy dose of mockery, because it’s always something just off about it

I find it depressing myself, that my religion's primary impact upon society boils down to teaching a bunch of lobbyist and investment bankers' kids about silent meeting and the inner light within them. It's not like that lesson seems to be sinking in.

Seriously, fellow Quakers, remember how George Fox disrupted church services and refused to comply with English courts? Remember civil disobedience? How can you stand by and let our religion be reduced to this crap?

I do seriously wonder this... It's one reason I don't go to meeting.

Signed, a Friend

That's a choice the denomination has made. Certain denominations (catholics/baptists/methodists) tend to focus on making quality education accessible. Others (quakers/Episcopalians) focus on educating the elite.

There is zero chance that they are giving staff salary increases anywhere near that. Because salaries are the biggest expense, there is zero chance that there expense rose 6-7%

But the cost of health insurance to keep the existing benefits for teachers could have easily increased that much. Take home pay isn’t everything.

Tutor here. I’ve had a fair number of Sidwell families. They might be nice to peers, but 100% have been enormous jerks to me, “the help”
I have never experienced such uniformly awful parents. NCS, STA, GDS, Maret— all have had lovely parents, but Sidwell…. Ugh.

Sure, “tutor”. Big Bad Sidwell elites.

I actually am! I have no school age children. One mom was so bad (married to an Obama staffer) that I refused to come back to their home after one session. The other ones I just sucked it up, but I always dreaded interacting with them.

I’m really sorry to hear and wish there were a way to change the perception by giving you exposure to the vast majority of very normal families. There are a few everyone gives a wide berth and I think some are on dcum whining about masks

What was the behavior? Micromanaging? Condescending?

Maybe they resent their child needs a tutor?

I didn’t mean they should!

Well, the star player is Susan Rice’s niece so I am pretty sure parents won’t be treating her poorly.
