I don't think he was in that. (PP here). He was in Game of Thrones, where he played a little person, a human. Not a different species like in LOTR |
I’m an anonymous internet commenter. Who cares if I “look” smart to you? |
This really getting old. Someone with whom you disagree is not a "Karen", apart from the obivous issues with sexism and ageism in constantly reinforcing a negative stereoptype. Talk about hypocrisy in action. |
Point made! It’s soo offensive to you! But dwarf stereotypes are a-ok! Hit dog#1, thanks for proving my point. |
Sigh. There are dozens of people posting here. What an inane response. |

From the podcast it seems Dinklage is calling out Disney for one one hand promoting that Disney is so progressive because its going to do a new version of Snow White that is alternative and very progressive which Disney actively markets is evidenced by their hiring of the West Side Story actress to play Snow White. Disney is so woke, so diverse, so inclusive.
But what about the seven dwarves aspect of the story? If Disney is so progressive, how can it rectify the dwarf angle. Hence, Disney is not as progressive as it claims. People can argue all they want that in the 1800s the 7 dwarfs were mythical creatures, but in 2022, people associate them with little people. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it's a duck. Period. GMAB with all the "it's no big deal". It is. |
Mmmmmkay? Got anything better than spellcheck? |
He wasn’t in that series, idiot. It wasn’t a problem because it was made like twenty years ago and he didn’t have the clout to speak out then. He likely felt it was a big problem but who the hell would have listened? |
| But - the dwarfs in the FAIRYTALE aren’t real. They are mythical creatures. Like gnomes and trolls. |
Do people in 2022 really associate them with little people? Or do we still associate them with mythical creatures? Please show me one person who truly associates them with little people - real humans instead of mythical creatures. |
| Can we still make movies with elves? |

I totally agree that this movie doesn’t need to be remade for LOTS of reasons, and Disney should be less lazy and money grabbing. Their last live action remakes basically all flopped.
But I’m not sure why Dinklage assumes the supporting male characters would be little peoole. In the Once TV show Disney did, the 7 “dwarves” were recast into typically sized peoole and their size was not an issue, I think. They had magical powers. But I totally agree with the larger premise that Disney should give this one a pass and also with the premise that most companies are pretty hypocritical about being sensitive only when it suits their wallets. Disney really does do somewhat better than most, though, and seems to consistently try over recent years, at least, to be welcoming to all groups and to make course corrections when they are called out. The disability community is generally pro-Disney because the parks really do make life easier for parents of disabled children. I think it’s fair for Disney to point out that they were already working with members of the community to get input on the movie. Again. I think the decision should be to skip this remake and if Peter’s view is that there is no way to make this in a respectful manner due to the history, I wouldn’t take issue with that. |

I have seen 2 'snow white' remakes and the dwarves have been men both times. I don't get the outrage.
I don't get it even if they were dwarves as those are mythical beings, NOT human. Much like fairies, elves and gnomes. |
| The original Snow White has the lead character animated to look like a 12 year old girl. That's who lives with the Dwarves and that's who marries the Prince. I'm surprised the implicit peadophila hasn't been addressed. I'm serious. |
No, I do not associate them with little people. They are mythical creatures. I think people who would associate them with little people in 2022 are the problem. Why would you do that? It makes no sense to me. |
