Let’s see what happens. ACPS never instills much confidence. In a news article, we were the only district that responded without emphasizing student safety. The ACPS Comms person gave the weakest quote, something to the effect of “we’ll see what happens.” |

The ACPS answer was so disappointing and embarrassing, especially next to the answers of all the other local school districts. |
It was glaringly bad. Just a completely empty statement with no reassurances whatsoever. How hard would it have been to say “We will be closely reviewing the order, but our top priority remains staff and student health and safety”? I have not been impressed with that PR/Comms person. |
I hope so because otherwise I think we will have a lot of teachers walking out. I don't blame them and I'll help clear the path for them. |
It’s like they go out of their way to do the opposite of what most competent and rational people would do. |
Didn’t you all get the email? |
Looks like ACPS has now announced it is doing the right thing. Let Youngkin sue to try to enforce his dangerous executive order. |
Thank goodness. Sue away, Youngkin. This is NoVa; we have more than enough lawyers ready to take you down. |
ACPS will have plenty of company and the districts can pool their legal resources if need be. All the school districts in Arlington, Fairfax, Prince Williams, Fauquier, and Richmond have announced they will maintain their mask mandates. Stafford has tentatively announced it will keep requiring masks for all and cited SB 1303 but did note it's school board makes the call. Not sure what Loudoun is doing but they are probably too busy figuring out how to respond to the executive order about investigating the school district for its handling of a student and sexual assaults. There are probably other school districts I'm missing. |
Agreed. There may also be room for a class action lawsuit by parents and students if Youngkin decides to proceed. In our neighborhood there is a high level of support for maintaining the mask mandates. |
Yep, I can't imagine the federal district court for the Eastern District of Virginia would actually issue a decision that would be any different than one issued by the one for the Western District of Tennessee on the question of an executive order allowing for a mask mandate opt-out. |
There was a class action suit against the last governor. Didn’t help. This one won’t either. |
Interesting. What court was the class action against a Northam EO filed in? Could you share the case caption and docket number? |
I know another kid who was positive from PCR from a daily school test in Denver. Kid had zero symptoms. Family travelled on vacation for two weeks. The kid infections are totally overblown. |
