Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
She's a total screw up no matter what side of the argument one finds themself supporting. We need her out. Now. |
Some do have school choice as there are lotteries and we are in what you'd consider a "bad" school. Maybe your good school isn't very good. |
You should have thought about that before you had three kids. Hope you are on birth control. A child just died in a neighboring county. |
The press conference will be that all of MCPS needs shut down for two weeks because too many Central Office employees contracted COVID during their extended vacation and the school system can no longer operate. Hah. Who subs for Central Office? |
Those are the parents (as you read here in comments) who also don't report when the students have Covid and are likely to send them to school no matter what. They have no concern for the safety of their fellow students or the teachers and staff. The numbers are way under reported and McNight seems to want it that way. McNight is letting these selfish parents dictate the health and safety of our students and teachers (and community). As a parent - I hope teachers know that we support you and really empathize with what you are going through. You didn't sign up for this mess. Why are teachers the ones who have to clean up the mess everyone else creates (students, admin, parents, local and state government)? I don't know how you are all hanging in there but thank you. |
Calm down and stop making all parents look bad. |
This doesn't sound like a fit parent. Those poor kids! I think we should be virtual but when I read posts like this, I'm reminded of how many kids were subject to abuse during lockdowns. In these cases, those kids are better at school. How sad that it's not safe to be at home with their parents though. When I see parents seething with anger about kids being home, I wonder if those kids are in a safe place at home. This person above is scary. |
Kids who are abused will be abused regardless of if they are in person or virtual. School is an extra layer of protection if an adult reports it but with large class sizes most teachers wouldn't notice except if a child speaks up and few would. |
You haven’t met her kids. JK! I’m sure they’re great kids and it’s just hard for pp to get work done while they’re home. She has my sympathies. |
So it's not about their health, it's about your mental health. Got it. |
Oh please. It’s a stressful time. Let PP vent- she is joking. |
What about the opposite - students and teachers reporting they have COVID when they really don’t? A positive test result is not asked to document. Everything is on the honor system so numbers can be way over reported to try to get MCPS to go virtual. |
Congrats, you've won the craziest thing I've read today award. How would that work, exactly? They would all have to return in 10 days anyway. Are you are suggesting a coordinated plot of thousands? |
Stop. Now you’re just making things up. Of course staff are required to provide documentation for a positive PCR test. In fact, there are multiple documents we must submit in order to use the Covid leave. Go to the MCPS site and search “Covid leave.” You’ll be able to find the policy yourself. |
This lean towards self-interest over societal well-being from a significant percentage of the population is why they should have used a statistical proxy for the 5% litmus, one based on the percentage of MCPS students/staff reporting status and the test positivity rate in the county, overall, to compensate for those who would game the system to keep schools open by not testing/reporting in the first place. |
