Who is holding a press conference? MCPS? Oh boy! That is a very bad sign

Get out! This is big! Bigger than snow closures.

I don't think they'd hold a presser for individual building closures that can be announced via email.

As the great Samuel L. Jackson said, hold on to your butts...

Whatever it is, they didn’t even tell the principals. Nice.

I think it’ll be a list and they will try to spin it as evidence that they are catching the problems and we should trust them.

Nope. The last time MCPS shut down for 2 weeks, schools didn’t open again for 1.5 years. I don’t trust them to reopen.

I didn’t think anybody really believed in March 2020 that the closure was going to be for two weeks only. I guess paranoia comes with the inability to grasp the situation.

Agreed, and *technically* they did reopen, albeit virtually, after those two weeks, and made up most of the missed days.

You left out the part where they only taught half of what should’ve actually been instructed had the children been in person. But why let facts get in the way.

You must attend a very bad school. Our kids didn't miss anything.

Well every entity that studied the school closures around world acknowledges that learning loss is real, documented and deeply felt across all grades. Ignoring that just proves you aren’t paying attention.
More importantly, what WAS learned is that the off switch is easy. But the ON switch with the BOE is broken beyond repair.

My kids didn't have learning loss so if your kids did you were at a bad school or you/they were the problem.

I bet you are also against school choice when students are in “bad schools”, right? EF those losers.

Based on self reported positives over break. How scientific. This is why you don’t report positives over break people. Force MCPS to start counting in January. By the time you are close to 5% peak will have passed, thus avoiding a closure. Stop letting MCPS get away with closing schools people.

What’s this about a press conference? Where did PP obtain this information?

NP here. Can vouch for this information from a reliable source. Could be cancelled due to the snow day now.

I won't mind if they remain closed this whole week. We are trying to knock out some RD applications.

Stop letting MCPS get away with closing schools???

MCPS will make up any data point to achieve their target objectives. #1 - do whatever the f#ing unions wants so Dr. McKnight gets the Superintendent job. Teachers and administrators want more days off and no supervision? Let’s add school by school closures to the snow days, the half days, and extra vacation days she already gave the unions.

Oh God, my anxiety just jumped to 298!!! I literally cannot stand one more day with these 3 kids driving me nuts!!! I went back to work Monday like teachers and everyone should have. I am literally getting deja vu with this weather and I bet they are going to close schools indefinitely and say they will reevaluate when it is safe to open and it will be like, July! I am going to go and drink a whole bunch until I cannot remember being on this forum.

How can Dr. McKnight have a 8am press conference? Administrative offices don’t open till 10am. Today they were supposed to be open at 10am but either staff didn’t get the memo or they have COVID because no one was answering phones. MCPS is just a joke at this point.

Perhaps she has new information to share about what she did over Winter Break or the arrest of the employee at Northwood? Perhaps she has a solution to the staffing shortages? Perhaps - but probably not. Close schools because actually educating students is not important.

I don't know about PP, but my friend texted it to me.

I'll start a separate thread.

You do realize you are a really bad person, right? The selfishness of not reporting is infuriating. You are somehow above any rules I guess. People like you are the reason it's spreading. I can only hope that people like you are the ones getting bad cases and not those who do all they can to stay safe and protect others. I bet you also don't wear a mask and think Covid is just a cold (that has killed millions - oh wait - you don't think that's real. It's the media, right? That and Sandy Hook conspiracies are running through your head because there is clearly a lot of empty space in that skull)
You clearly need an education and FOX is making you sound like an absolute idiot.

It’s very sad to me that you don’t enjoy being around your children.
