I've given birth at Stafford Hospital down in Stafford, VA. The birthing center was very calm, and the celebratory dinner for me and hubby was a very nice touch!! They even gave us a Halo Sleep Sack for baby before checked out. Thoughtful touches to help make memories.

They also cut into the budget to have a full staff of nurses, but I'm glad that the average American has learned nothing about our completely wrecked healthcare priorities from this pandemic.

Is it overkill to look for a hospital with a private suite, reasonable food, nice thoughtful touches and/or any gifts thrown in for baby and mom? Some hospitals in Virginia do this without asking. If I'm going to foot the bill, I don't want to pay a bunch of money to be treated like a prisoner guarded by wardens behind bars. Sorry to anyone who had a negative experience during childbirth - had no intention of drudging up bad memories for you.

I have been grateful for my past experiences at Anne Arundel and Shady Grove. I just wanted to hear if other hospitals in the area had nice amenities. So as for anyone's disdain, you can take it right back. I won't feel ashamed for asking. If I was looking for flowers, a tummy tuck, and a photoshoot with perfectly done hair, I would go to Paris, Norway, Sweden, etc. I'm a stay at home mom working a full time professional job remotely while caring for 3 boys and Mommy is genuinely thankful for all the breaks she can get.

I'm sorry that some of you feel the way you do. As for me, I'll keep focusing on the positives and the silver linings wherever found.

Cheers!

So, you're at the top of WHAT MLM pyramid, then??

Jealous much?

Lol man I’d pay for a luxury package if it included was guaranteed on-time delivery of pain meds (and only that).

But also can’t you just pay someone to put together a luxury basket for you to bring to the hospital with most of this stuff? And a private chef for the night you get back home plus night nurse?

And who actually finds a celebratory meal enjoyable while you’re still bleeding and in a hospital? My parents pre-pandemic dropped off my favorites from Capital Grille with flowers, gifts and the works and I felt kind of bad they bothered since I just wanted to sleep slash not sit up for it.

Holy crap this is nuts. It’s a hospital for gods sake. Kind of nauseating.

LOL. Y'all are needy AF.

I just know it's not WHC

But I don't really feel like I would have been able to enjoy a "luxury" experience. I was tired and in pain and really just wanting to rest and get to the part where I didn't feel like I got run over by a truck anymore

LMAFO everything OP has said here makes so much more sense with this context.

I’m an earlier PP who thinks this request is a little outlandish as well but y’all are just straight up mean girls. Go to another forum where this behavior is accepted. It’s not here.

LOL, No, not at all, I just don't understand how OP claims to be a stay at home mom AND work full time. That sounds like the sort of think a #momboss would say.

It's so true. A friend of mine used to do Lularoe and now she's an "Online Business Manager" and claims to make 6 figures a month. She's also started talking about healing crystals and "manifesting" things you want into being.

Hahaha this exactly. To me, all the 'designer bath items' and 'luxury linens' would have been pointless (I sweated and bled through so many hospital gowns and sheets...) - but I would've paid extra in a heartbeat for a private nurse rather than a parade of medical assistants who managed to be super-prompt with Colace but literally nothing else I would also pay for a better bed but that doesn't seem to be on offer anywhere.

Inova Fairfax food was pretty good in the old building and I hear it's better now. Only issue last time was you couldn't order anything in the middle of the night (we made it to a recovery room around midnight) so aside from the fun-size Snickers I packed, I didn't get anything to eat until breakfast the next AM (36+ hours without real food) because the surrounding area doesn't have much in the way of late-night dining, either.

Thanks all - OP here. Lovely to see how much free time you guys have to imagine what kind of lady I am. Glad you guys can laugh, at my expense, I suppose? I'm a generally happy person and can let water roll off my back.

Like I said before: I'm a licensed corporate attorney that works for a large corporation from the comfort of home. I am also fortunate enough to care for my young toddler at home.

Sorry that I am not familiar with MLM schemes, "#girlboss, Lularoe, manifesting/crystals/etc, whatever other assumptions you can dream up....can't help you there.

But if you need a referral for an attorney, let me know!

This was my very first post on DCUM and I am grateful for your responses as it has really helped to understand how incredibly helpful some DCUM posters are.
