Schools your kids love

And we (parents) like the merit scholarship that means our child will have plenty of funds left in their 529 to go to grad school

Is there a lot of Pitt bashing? It seems like everyone likes it!

JMU. Smart, well-rounded, friendly, down-to-earth kids; lovely main campus/quad; excellent and varied majors to choose from; gorgeous Shenandoah Valley location; school spirit; loyal alumni network.

Smartest, kindest, funniest colleague I ever had was an Elon grad - also gay and active in LGBTQ org. Congrats to your DS and GL with med school!

there’s quite a surprising number of queer kids at elon

You could say the same about any college or university in 2021

Anonymous wrote:Everyone loves UW-Madison

heard this many times....

would an insider say why, please

Kid at Madison and DH is alum. Great combination of solid academic programs in anything you would want to study and school spirit. Campus is great with some beautiful buildings. Sunset at Memorial Union in Fall/Spring is hard to beat. Madison is a fantastic college town with plenty to do and see without being overwhelming. People are friendly, both other students and town/gown relationship.

If you are looking for a small school, may not be a good choice. If you want the quintessential US public college experience, Madison is an awesome choice

My DD absolutely loves UVA. She is a first year but has such a great and diverse group of friends. They are all so close and supportive of each other. She has a good balance of fun and going out along with working hard. We are away on vacation right now and she keeps commenting how much she misses her UVA friends and school.

It’s a nice diverse crowd with a decent engineering program

I have two friends who are alumni and they loved it.

Couldn't agree more. My DD is a sophmore at UCLA and absolutely loves it. The campus is stunning, there are amazing academic programs to choose from, and it's full of smart, driven students. You have the best of both worlds - Westwood is a fantastic "college town" in the middle of a world class city. In addition to her great education, DC has a tight friend group and they regularly explore the city - go to the beach, hike in the mountains, go thrifting in West Hollywood, sample amazing food from all over the world. And did I mention the weather? It's perfect almost every day of the year.

I will say - UCLA is not for everyone. It's a huge school and there is no coddling or hand-holding. Students need to be good self-advocates and be able to navigate a huge system. I've spent time with a lot of DC's friends and they're all very impressive, motivated young people.

Because they weren’t queer before?

+2. I graduated from UCLA. Amazing school in the best possible location. I hated leaving.

Pomona College. DS loves it and has the chance to do serious research as a sophomore.
