Couldn't agree more.  My DD is a sophmore at UCLA and absolutely loves it.  The campus is stunning, there are amazing academic programs to choose from, and it's full of smart, driven students.  You have the best of both worlds - Westwood is a fantastic "college town" in the middle of a world class city.  In addition to her great education, DC has a tight friend group and they regularly explore the city - go to the beach, hike in the mountains, go thrifting in West Hollywood, sample amazing food from all over the world.  And did I mention the weather?  It's perfect almost every day of the year.

I will say - UCLA is not for everyone.  It's a huge school and there is no coddling or hand-holding.  Students need to be good self-advocates and be able to navigate a huge system.  I've spent time with a lot of DC's friends and they're all very impressive, motivated young people.  [/quote]
