VYS getting into ecnl?

VYS doesn’t have nothing. They have a large and successful rec league that feeds their travel program when it starts at ulittles. That’s why all their younger teams are good.

Maybe none in same age groups. Any age groups with more than 2? Good luck in competing with one ECNL level player per age group.

I’m guessing avg 4 per age group. Some leave before u12 though. How many Union players at those age groups played for Mclean travel from u9-u12?

Some recent VYS teams have had some D1 players, and that'd definitely be more likely to continue if they move up.

But they're neither a massive club like Loudoun/Arlington or a traditional powerhouse like McLean and BRYC.

That said, if SYC can go MLS Next ...

SYC is actually a bad comparison. Their recent team of 03s just sent like 6-7 guys to Division I and another to Montclair State, which is a DIII power. The boys program has gotten much better with the changes from LMVSC and they have the size to play at MLS Next as they develop, especially with the arrangement with McLean possibly drawing some kids.

Now Alexandria going MLS Next is another story.

Vienna still has to find that untapped talent from the ethnic neighborhoods

When my kid was younger, I remember we used to play Vienna in "crossover" which was a pre-travel "all-star-esque" league. (Not sure if it still exists.) The Vienna age group director/coach would complain about how bad all the other clubs were beating them and how unsporting it was.

Do your research. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I just took a look at the boys 08, 07, and 06 ECNL-R teams on Youth Soccer Rankings. The last 15 games for each team (includes tournaments, etc) are as follows:

08s: 5 wins, 6 losses, 4 ties
07s: 3 wins, 11 losses, 1 tie
06s: 4 wins. 7 losses, 4 ties

And you want to put these teams against other clubs' 1st teams? These kids would quit...or leave. AND then their Black teams would play ECNL-R? Oh geez. See how ridiculous this idea is?

You need to include players going to mls next teams as well.

Yeah. All Alexandria is doing is better than SYC in MLS Next. So it is another story. See other thread.

Another local ECNL club is not needed.

ECNL-R? Sure why not.

But ECNL proper, no please, else drop the “E” and just call it the National Club League. It is watered down too far already. IMHO.

VYS isn't good enough isn't that convincing an argument. On the boys side, McLean isn't anywhere near good enough if you judge their U9-U12 teams. Vienna is probably stronger. However, lidsleave Vienna and flock to McLean at U13 BECAUSE they are in ECNL. They would do the same with Vienna.

Whether that's good for the league is a totally different story.

Not sure about the other age groups, but I think:
'06, 4 solid players left VYS for ECNL teams
Arlington - 2 (this team won the national championship last year for U15)
McLean - 2

'05, VYS has lost at least 5 05 players to ECNL teams
BRYC - 2
McLean - 2
VDA - 1

'04:
Bethesda - 1

And these were all top players at the club.

I get what you are trying to say.

I must correct a few of your comments:

1) Arlington 06 has shown themselves to be a middle of the road ECNL team.
2) Not sure what total number of VYS 06s who have moved to MYS over the years is but don’t think some of them are participating in ECNL play for VA United/MYS
3) There are 3 former 06 BRYC ECNL players on 06 VYS now so there is some movement of talent in the other direction as well. (VYS and BRYC 06 ECNL are pretty evenly matched.)
4) There may be 2 05 VYS players on 05 BRYC ECNL. There is also a former 06 VYS player on 05 BRYC ECNL.

1) Arlington 06 has shown themselves to be a middle of the road ECNL team. - Arlington 06 is 5-0-1 and in FIRST place in ECNL - https://public.totalglobalsports.com/public/event/2365/individual-team/525/46008/9
2) Not sure what total number of VYS 06s who have moved to MYS over the years is but don’t think some of them are participating in ECNL play for VA United/MYS
- TB & PR?
3) There are 3 former 06 BRYC ECNL players on 06 VYS now so there is some movement of talent in the other direction as well. (VYS and BRYC 06 ECNL are pretty evenly matched.) - Agreed, that VYS and BRYC are evenly matched, but which direction is the talent headed?
4) There may be 2 05 VYS players on 05 BRYC ECNL. There is also a former 06 VYS player on 05 BRYC ECNL.
- Again, more VYS players headed to ECNL teams.
