I heard this as well. Bryc making moves merging with fcv and partnering with VYS. Good for them. |
LOL!!!! |
I have no idea who you are or why I should care about your opinion. |
Yes. This is true |

Please just don’t call it Union. Or United. Or Commanders. |
Complex |
Because BRYC has had talks with nearly every club over the past few years and they never materialized. Essentially they all end over control and branding. All involved parties want both control and branding and none want to give it up. BRYC would certainly want FCV’s players but that can’t be guaranteed by FCV. FCV would want control and the ECNL badge they didn’t earn plus there is the whole TSJ ownership aspect. VYS, stands a better chance but because they have a viable Rec program and a boys side. And then what is unknown is BRYC’s status with ECNL. Bottom line, I’m sure there are talks because BRYC has talked with literally every club over the past few years and at the end of the day they all break down. |
I guess it takes a Union and clubs with Valor to make this happen |
| My family has some experience with both BRYC and VYS. Consolidation of these two clubs would make sense. They mostly draw from adjacent areas and both run good programs; but each seems just a bit too small to reach that next level. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. |
And FCV brings nothing but a couple of coaches and perhaps some players. This is the ongoing issue for FCV because they have no real geographical location. They have no rec program to speak of, they offer no fields, outside of the field house. They tried to set stakes in Loudoun through Ashburn and that was the closest they came to being a actual soccer club, but at least then they had the ECNL patch that attracted clubs to them. Knowing their past it would just be easier to let them die of natural causes and then let the coaches and players move to where they think is best. But any merger with FCV will only add players for about 3 years after that they offer zero player pool and BRYC will be right back in the same spot they were before. FCV has merged with the following clubs over the years: SYA CYA Ashburn Loudoun All ended in flames. |
The difference is that FCV has left a trail of clubs burned by partnering with them. All BRYC needs to do is hire CZ or BP outright and just go from there. The players will either follow or not which would be the same thing with a merger anyway. It is far less complicated to just hire the coaches you want then try and merge with a club that ultimately owns nothing. STJ owns FCV not the other way around. BRYC is not guaranteed players, FCV has zero access to fields not to mention any in a in a strategic area. |

One big local club has on TD opening now. CZ or BP is a shoo-in for the position. |
What club is that? |

Some kind of BRYC and VYS union a la SYC/McLean does makes sense to give VYS players an ECNL pathway (if BRYC can stay in). I'm a BRYC parent and would support this.
My guess is the most significant positive impact of this would only be felt initially at the u11 and below levels -- but may not be that measurably until roughly 1.5 years from now when U11 teams today would be U13 and joining ECNL. |
