Least of all the Republicans who called it communism, voted against it, and will nevertheless show up for the ribbon cuttings. |
+1 It was the moderate Rs, for the most part. |
People are fairly simple minded when it comes to government, because most don't have time or interest into digging into all the weeds. What most believe, on both sides of the party fence, is that the military (aka defense spending) is one of the top three things our government should spend on. Social security and medicare/aid being the other two. When the numbers are so large and our deficit so large, the numbers become numbing and people just generally say, "ok". That's why they are popular. Also, it is political suicide to not fully support our men and women in the service. Not saying I agree, but just explaining why it is. |

“Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, a Republican and the chairman of the National Governors Association, commended Congress “for setting aside partisan differences to pass a bill that works for the American people.”
With nearly $600 billion in new federal aid to improve highways, bridges, dams, public transit, rail, ports, airports, water quality and broadband over 10 years, the legislation is a once-in-a-generation chance to overhaul the nation’s public works system. And it offers a rare opportunity for states that for decades have been forced to balance huge short-term backlogs of repairs and upgrades against larger, longer-term projects and needs.” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/06/us/states-infrastructure-bill-funding.html?referringSource=articleShare |
+1000. It's good to see there are at least some Republicans who still care about the advancement of our nation and not letting our infrastructure fall behind and crumble, as opposed to all of the other jackasses who've placed partisanship ahead of what's best for the country. |
They need welcoming committees to shame them and call out their hypocrisy at every single ribbon cutting they try showing up at. |
So we’ve got all of the 13, count them, 13 Republicans capable of getting more money for their districts. That’s not saying much. |
How naive are you to not know that the six knew that it would pass? Do you think they don’t count votes? You think it’s some big surprise? |
|
Hats off to Sinema, Manchin, and the Republicans and Democrats in the Senate who architected the bill and made it happen!!
Boo to the progressive that held it hostage! |
As an immigrant, people like this are the reason I moved over to the republican party. From what I see, the republicans have often had achievements and careers outside politics. They aren’t just complaining adult sized babies who throw tantrums all day that they aren’t allowed to spend even more of someone else’s money. I know not all democrats are that bad, but I just can’t stand the ones who are. Even the ‘good’ ones like Biden have done nothing with their lives except spend our money. There should be term limits for all politicians so they are forced to work for a living at least some of the time. |
Up is down, I guess. |
Do you think they're making some monumental statement by not voting for it? They look churlish and immature. |
This is a really weird flex given that we’ve been watching one looooong tantrum from the GOP for several years. Sour grapes. That’s all the GOP and their voters have. |
