What is so bad about Satanism?

I think people do a lot more good in the name of religion than bad.

Whereas "doing good in the name of Satan" is simply contradictory and impossible by definition.

It isn't, actually. Satanists define the primary virtues as personal freedom, materialism, kindness for the virtuous, intelligence, knowledge, and "doing unto others as they do to you." It's pretty American, all told.

You can’t possibly claim to speak for all Satanists. Maybe just for the fake Satanists (who don’t really believe in it all) who are trolling religion. But there are plenty of Satanists who do actually think evil (however you define that) is a “good” thing.

I find it amusing that you (a Christian?) are trying to define who is a "real Satanist" and who isn't. The Satanic virtues are pretty much the same ideas for both atheist Satanists and religious Satanists.

Oh really? You’re the one who tried to give Satanism a narrow scope.

Why are you lying so transparently?

Just the first few hits that came up, there are plenty more.

And in the 80s, people were sure Satanists were running day care rings. It's all fear mongering nonsense.

No, those are news articles with evidence of people who worship Satan killing people. I don’t think the people who were killed and their families think satanic killings are nonsense.

Those aren't"news articles" and aren't even evidence that satanic cults killed these people. Read the links and then do some more googling on the perpetrators and victims.

Briefly, the first guy was a psychopath. If you read about the poor guy Mark Killroy, the people who tortured and killed him were not "satanists." They were a murderous group/cult involved in drug smuggling, magic spells and something closer to voodoo.

I think actual cults of people who worship Satan and murder people are non-existent or rare.

Found the apologist for Satanic killers. Dude just stop.

+1. They were followers of Satan, full stop. If you want to let the psychopath off for being a psychopath, then you’re going to have to let abusive Christians (since you hate Christians so much) off for mental illness too, and I’m sure you don’t want to go there.

I don't know why you're saying I hate Christians. You're pulling that out of thin air.

I'm not letting anyone off for anything. But how many people have you heard of who murder in the name of Christ compared to people like that psychopath guy who claim to worship the devil? You'll find that actual devil worshipping murderers are very rare compared to the people who bomb abortion clinics, burned heretics at the stake, etc.

Somebody else already posted that it’s a question of (1) intent and (2) numbers. You blew right past that because you don’t want to understand, or you’re just trolling. First, Christians (as you do obviously hate them, you cute little bigot, you) are trying to spread love, and the vast majority don’t murder anyone and many even succeed in spreading love. Satanists, on the other hand, worship a figure who represents evil and murder. You have your head in the sand about satanists doing bad things, and according to you they have to be some cute little group in Texas that trolls Christians (there’s that bigotry again), or if they actually do anything bad it’s a psychological disorder and nothing, nothing to do with Satanism.

So, either you’re really dumb, or you’re a miserable bigot who spends 24/7 trolling from your mom’s basement. My money is on the latter.

If someone murders in cold blood, it doesn't matter what they self proclaimed to worship. They were controlled by demons of Satan. There's no loophole for failure to proclaim anything.

You sweet summer child, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Members of the CoS do not do these things, nor do they “worship” Satan, nor do the vast majority of them even believe he exists.

This. The Church of Satan exists mostly to prevent evangelical Christianity from taking over our country. The people you should truly fear are the souther baptist types who are truly evil personified.

Beware that blasphemy against the holy spirit is the ONLY unforgivable sin. To call what is of God to be of Satan, and vice versa. Matthew 12.

Wrong. The LaVey Satanists are all about the ego, materialism, and generally getting what you want over other people. Two of LaVey’s early followers participated in Charles Manson’s murders.

Not every christian believes this, you know.

The fact remains that among those links, only one story even mentions devil worship. Which is a different thing than "Satanism" and the Church of Satan, all of which is pretty rare. The fact is, people who work somewhere like Planned Parenthood have a true reason, based on past instances, to be afraid of Christian whackos. Whereas, nobody has real cause to fear devil worshippers (or even Church of Satan people) because there are so few of them.

Ha! This is the meanest most condescending post here! Imagine that, on the subject of Satanism and devil worship, the Christian is the nastiest.

Yep. Many naive people in this world

Pretty much what I said. And tons of Christians murder in the name of Christianity every day. People who suck are going to suck no matter what their religion. They will rationalize it using their religion.

There's been a ton of Christian terrorism in the US. Christians have murdered people because they were gay or because they were healthcare workers who provided abortions or because they were Jewish.

So if Satan makes Satanists murder people, Jesus must make Christians murder people.

It's an idiotic point. People who want to murder look for ways to rationalize their desires. Evil doesn't come from outside forces. We're not tempted by the Devil. Humans do evil because they want to do evil. (or because they are hurt or angry or stupid). Then they rationalize their behavior by religion.

So-called Argumentative Poster: “The Church of Satan often battles attempts by southern Evangelical nut jobs to codify Christianity into US law. Given the choice between the two, I prefer the Satanists.”

This poster: “He said he likes Satan better than evangelicals! That means he thinks Satan is great!”

I would rather eat expired yogurt than dog shit. That doesn’t mean I love dog shit.
