What is so bad about Satanism?

Anonymous
This is not a troll post. I’m not a religious person so I have no, er… goat, in this fight.

Is there anything inherently wrong with people who worship Satan? Unless of course they actually sacrifice babies and drink their blood, but I haven’t heard any actual reports of that. In fact it sounds like other religions are far more keen on committing acts of terrorism. Satanists basically seem to just side with another team and embrace the punk anarchist vibe. None of that affects me in any way, but maybe religious people find something intrinsically wrong and offensive. If your religion is the right way, though, then you should have no worries about being outcompeted by the other side. That’s sort of why I never believed in religion in the first place…. One’s faith should be enough to believe that your religion is the right one, so why would it matter what others believe if essentially they’ll get what’s coming in the end anyway?

I don't think anyone worships satan. It's like a joke to poke fun at religion.

OP I'm going to take your word for it that you're not a troll as this is an interesting question. I'm responding as an evangelical Christian.

Is there anything inherently "wrong" with people who worship Satan? Are you asking if there is something wrong with the people themselves, or the fact that they worship Satan? I would say yes to both. There is something wrong with them in that they are inherently misguided and for some perverse reason, drawn to evil. There are plenty of people like this, as we know. Blame it on mental illness, drugs, trauma/ abuse, whatever, but yes, there is something wrong with wanting to "worship" the bad over the good.

And to the second part, what is wrong with worshiping Satan? Well, if you want to spend your life both here on earth and in the next in the figurative/ literal definition of Hell, then go ahead. Jesus Himself said that many will choose that path. I don't "worry" about people who don't believe as I do in the sense that I sit here and stew about it all day, but I am very sad for them. Yes, I have complete faith and belief that Christianity is the path to God and to eternal salvation. I don't see it as being "outcompeted" - Jesus has already won.

There is, however, an active congregation of The Satanic Temple. However, it's more of an anti-religious religion established to promote secularism and human rights.

I’m op and yes, this is the question that interests me and really not trolling.

So as a Christian, would you say the more offensive thing is the mockery of religion and reduction of the concept of faith to a mere aesthetic (as I described, punk/metal/anarchists), or is it that you believe that Satanists actually commit evil deeds or endorse evil actions (crime)? I probably could read up on it (though I wouldn’t know what sources are reliable) but do Satanists commit crimes in his name or endorse criminal acts or criminal cults like Charles Manson?

The latter. Yes, absolutely, Satanism is real evil. By definition, right?

By and large most satanists are atheists using the umbrella of a church to push for less religion in the public sphere. Because they are a religion, they get equal treatment which is something that a lot of religions christians will not tolerate For example, if a bible group wants to pass out literature in a public school, the Church of Satan will push for equal treatment, the same goes for nativity scenes. Here are a couple of examples:

OP, if you are serious, Satan and Satanism represent (some would say cause) humanity’s worst impulses. We’re not talking about cute witch covens or crunchy pagans. We’re talking about people who abuse their kids or parents, who steal from retirees, who are mass murderers, and so on.

Religious folks call it Satan; secular/atheists call it sociopathy ir psychopathy. But they all find common ground in judging mass murders to be bad.

IMHO- there is no difference in satanism and other religions.

It’s still a pretend made up thing to make you scared about the afterlife. Except he wears red body paint and likes the thermostat to be set really hot.

Given all the terrible and hateful stuff people do in the name of religion, my vote is no, there’s no difference.

Most Satanic organizations, such as the Satanic Temple, are just atheists combating a rise in theistic leaders attempting to place their religous values in schools and government, these people would not be bad because they are just political activists who use the image of Satan because it scares the Christians.

Not my thing but I’d take the trolling satanist over evangelicals any day. And ffs they are not “evil” if you’re talking about the organized church if satan. I think the worst you could say is that they are snarky and perhaps a bit snide.

I don't think there is any proof that mass murderers or child abusers are Satanists. In fact, prisons are full of religious people.

How can you tell that "Jesus has already won"?
