He may have a second job, home, relationship or even entire life (complete with spouse, children, mortgage, etc.) you don't know about. The circumstances you describe would align with him leaving the apartment to attend to other "responsibilities" he may have or even just to catch up with his peeps on "the other side" of the coin. Not as uncommon as you might think. Pretty sure that's the case here.

There was already a little tension in the air and without going into detail he revealed something sensitive about himself and in my response, attacked him a bit. So if anyone picked a fight, it was me. We’ve talked and all is well.

This is ridiculous. He is just deciding whether this immature-sounding woman is really the one for him.
